MC Resort Hanajiri Onsen Hotel Hanajiri

We stayed at the RV park operated by the hotel. It was a fantastic location, right in front of Kehi no Matsubara and the ocean. The hotel's hot springs were available for unlimited use during the designated hours. The bath was small and the washing area was only big enough for six people, but since we were there on a weekday, it was all ours. The shower pressure was weak, which needs improvement. There was a water dispenser and paper cups at the bath exit, along with brushes, toothpaste, and tea bags. The restrooms were open 24 hours a day and were clean. That night, we ate at the adjacent restaurant, Ruo Tei. The terrace seating was dog-friendly, which was a blessing. All the food was delicious, especially the squid in the yukhoe bowl. The staff were also very attentive. With power outlets, we were able to sleep comfortably in the car with our dog while watching YouTube. Morning walks on the beach were truly wonderful. There were some negative reviews about the high volume of guests in the summer, but I guess that's understandable during the busy season. On larger properties, restrooms and baths tend to be far away, so we had everything close by, making for a comfortable stay. I'd definitely stay here again.

When I inquired in advance about using the RV park on Monday, I was told that I could use it, but since it's closed on Tuesdays, I could also sleep in my car in the municipal parking lot next door. I was unsure whether they had the city's permission to do this, but they said I could use it on the day if there were reservations available, so I put my reservation on hold for the time being. When I went to the municipal parking lot on the day, I found the restrooms to be very dirty, probably because it's close to the beach... I headed to MC resort to take a bath, but the bath was dirty too... Maybe because it's the season when a lot of beachgoers are using it, there's sand all the way from the entrance to the changing room... I also had a lot of hair lying around... It was so uncomfortable that I couldn't even get in the tub, and I came out right away without even using a hair dryer. I think it's partly due to the low standards of the beachgoers, but there's no place to rest after you get out of the bath, and everything is dirty... 800 yen for a day trip to the baths seems expensive. Instead of using either the RV park or the municipal parking lot, I stayed in my car at a roadside station a little further away.

The hotel is located at the very back of Tsuruga Bay, right next to Kehi no Matsubara. The photos and stay were taken last winter. There are about seven rooms, and they're quite small, but my room was the only one with an ocean view. The prefectural road across the water makes it a bit noisy, but that's a drawback... It's just under 4,000 yen for a room-only stay, but it's a very spacious and luxurious twin room. The room is fully equipped, so it's almost perfect. This hot spring isn't featured in old hot spring magazines. Apparently, it used to flow, but it dried up and was re-dug a few years ago. There's only an indoor bath. The water quality is a chloride spring close to a simple spring, with circulating water and chlorine. I had dinner at the restaurant, but they didn't have the famous "yellowtail bowl," and instead had live squid sashimi, which overall seemed pricey. Also, when I looked at the reservation site for this year, the same room was nearly double the price. It seems the price has increased due to the hotel's growing popularity and increased customer numbers. However, in the summer, prices have been high for some time now because there are beaches and jet ski bases nearby.

We went to the hot spring and the seafood restaurant Uotei. Neither was satisfactory. The hot spring was a bit pricey at 1,200 yen, so I had high expectations, but it was just a slightly larger tub than a home bathtub. There was hair on the sink, and the bathtub was constantly filled with water and was filthy. Amenities were provided, but 1,200 yen was too much. At Uotei, the bathing fee was 500 yen for adults. At Uotei, we ordered two sauced katsudon and two mini meat udon, but they told us they didn't have mini udon at the time. I'm not sure why. So we ordered regular-sized meat udon to share between two people, but the sauced katsudon came with miso soup. If they had told us from the beginning or listed it on the menu, we wouldn't have ordered meat udon. Also, we asked the older female staff member for more water, but she just put the pitcher on the table and didn't refill it. We were the only two customers there. The price and service here don't match! I go to Fukui every year, so I hope they improve it. The building and interior are beautiful, so it's a shame.

Although this is a bed-and-breakfast inn, it is conveniently connected to the restaurant next door, Uo Tei. Both the room and the bath were clean. There is an elevator on the stairs, so people with disabilities can use it with ease. My guest room was on the second floor, and the bathroom was also on the second floor, so there was little movement required and it was easy to get to. One thing that was disappointing was that the prices of the dishes from Uo Tei listed in the room were different from the actual prices of the dishes at the restaurant. I understand that a price increase is unavoidable, but it could lead to problems, so I think it would be better if they changed it as soon as possible. Other than that, it was very good and I would like to use it again.
