Minami

We stayed on January 15th during a heavy snowfall. The journey was difficult, but the hotel was clean and warm, and the warm welcome was very comforting. The Japanese-Western style room was clean and comfortable enough that we didn't even notice the cold outside. The hot springs were particularly noteworthy; the panoramic bath on the 4th floor had just the right temperature, leaving us warm and cozy long after getting out. The large public bath and open-air bath, connected by a walkway from the 2nd floor, were also very clean and comfortable, allowing us to move between them without feeling the cold. The meals, both breakfast and dinner (especially the rice), were delicious, but it would have been nice if more local ingredients had been used. If the weather had been good, we could have seen the magnificent Mount Iwate from both our room and the panoramic bath, but it was a little disappointing that we could only glimpse its base through the snow. However, the snowy scenery was very beautiful. We would like to stay again.
I use this bathhouse every time I go hiking. It can get crowded depending on the time of day, but the sulfurous water suits me well and helps relieve fatigue. The price is cheaper for residents of Shizukuishi town. Although I'm not from town, they have a point card for non-residents: 10 visits equal one free. The points are valid for one year, but you can accumulate them quickly depending on how often you use it. The pricing is reasonable. The building is located on a small hill, and the view from the main bath is excellent. The open-air bath is full with 3 people when it's by the river. I think the sauna is full with 4 people. The changing room is fairly spacious. There are free lockable lockers for valuables in one corner of the changing room.
This hot spring allows you to take a nap in the spacious rest area, buy snacks at the shop, and relax while overlooking the ranch. Shizukuishi residents receive a discount on entry. The water is a very hot sulfur spring! It's so hot you'll get burned! It's about 48 degrees! You can add water from the faucet, but it's still a little too hot! Even though the idyllic ranch spreads out before you, the water is quite aggressive (lol). Some people will love sulfur, others will hate it. I like the location, it's tranquil.
It felt so good! Refreshing in the forest. The hot spring was clean, and the water felt so good it really tightened my skin. There were bear bells. I rang them in the open-air bath, hoping that no bears would show up. It was very thrilling.
There are goats and a cucumber man feeding the goats.
