Momonosato Hot Spring

This day-trip hot spring is located in Fuefuki City, on hills covered in peach groves. My husband and I visited on a weekend in March. It's the season when peach blossoms aren't in full bloom, but we chose it in the evening and at night, hoping to see the night view. It's a small, rustic hot spring popular mainly with locals, and it was empty, even though it was a weekend. The open-air bath is slightly warm, allowing for a relaxing soak, and the surrounding peach grove hills offer a beautiful night view of Kofu. (You can't see the stars while soaking, but you can see them when you stand up.) The stars were also beautiful. The water is alkaline, leaving a slightly smooth finish. There are two tatami-floored resting rooms available for use after a bath, but the larger one was only half-occupied due to traffic cones. It's a rather bleak place. Another attractive feature is the discount coupon available on the website, which reduces the regular adult entrance fee from 620 yen to 520 yen. It looks more like the baths at a slightly older hot springs inn than a day-trip hot spring facility, and I personally like that atmosphere, but unfortunately there was a notice that it would be closed from April. It seems that there are also city-run facilities such as Misaka no Yu and Nagomi no Yu, so I guess I'll have to use those from now on.

Is this a weak alkaline spring? It has the slightly slimy texture typical of alkaline springs, but the pH doesn't seem particularly high. The water is heavy. It's located in a field on a small hill. One of the great features is the open-air bath, which offers a great view of the town of Fuefuki. One indoor bath (jet bath), two open-air baths? (Since they're connected inside, it's essentially one waterfall bath.) The water temperature is just right. There's a sauna (for 9 people). Amenities are available. Rest areas are available. There's probably no dining area. The large window between the indoor and outdoor baths is often open, giving the open-air feel even from the indoor bath. The outdoor bath offers a great view of Fuefuki and Isawa city. The building is small and slightly dilapidated, but the staff are friendly. The rest area has tatami rooms, so it's nice to relax. Price: ¥620 (3 hours) (¥1030 for the all-day plan). Apparently, it's ¥310 for Fuefuki residents. It's cheap, so I think it's good value. Access: About 5 minutes from Misaka IC on the Chuo Expressway. Google Maps suggests getting off at the previous IC and taking the local roads, but it's easier to get there from Misaka IC.

I used the baths on a Saturday around 6:00 PM on my way home from snowboarding! Men's bath: 1 indoor bath, 2 outdoor baths, 1 sauna Women's bath: 1 indoor bath, 1 outdoor bath?, 1 sauna The water temperature was just right! Not too warm, but not too hot either. The price was reasonable! If you have a JAF membership or an SD card (from the driver's license center), you can get the same discount as the citizen discount (one-day use)! I wonder if citizens get an even lower discount? There's even a 3-hour discount! I wonder if it's a local bathhouse? It's nice. The view from the rest room is also great, thanks to the elevated location! I'd love to come back! I have high hopes for the new facility after the renovation!

The spring water feels like it clings to your skin, and its authentic fragrance soothes both body and mind. The fee is 310 yen for city residents and 620 yen for non-residents, and you can use it for three hours. The rest room is not very large, as it can only be filled with four groups, but it was set up so that we could maintain a good distance between each other. My husband and I like to enjoy multiple hot springs on day trips, so we were very satisfied with our time here.
