梨木温泉 梨木館

It's not in Gunma Prefecture. It's a hot spring in Fukushima Prefecture. I'll update the location soon. I live alone in a heavy snow area of Niigata, and since October I've been working on snow protection, so I don't have time to use my smartphone. The location update will be delayed. I dropped in for a quick bath and was surprised to find two different types of spring water in the baths. The carbonated spring was lukewarm, so I could stay in it forever. I haven't checked the quality of the other bath, though. It's a slightly pale gray color (sorry if I'm wrong). It's a little hot, so it feels hot when you get in, but once you're in, you don't feel the heat (my impression). I found myself feeling sleepy and had a bruise from my youth on my way home, so this is a hot spring that suits me. You can check the temperature of each bath in the changing room.

Overall, it was disappointing. The website was so well-designed, I had high expectations. First of all, when checking in, you can't use a credit card to make a reservation through Rakuten Travel. And you have to pay in advance. Huh? What if I don't have cash? There's no convenience store nearby. I was shown to my room, and it seems they've renovated three rooms. The room was spacious, but the toilet was extremely small. The room was clean, but the hallway and bathroom...I guess it's understandable that it's old, but it's not clean. The food was plentiful, but... The rice dish had little moisture and was dry. It was disappointing in many ways! The beer server smelled bad, so there was no point in choosing this room! When checking out, there was no farewell, just a simple goodbye. It wasn't worth the price.

With the indoor bath and in-room dining, there was no need to leave the room, so it was easy to relax. The indoor bath isn't a hot spring, but the water is soft and of good quality, with no chlorine smell. The bathroom floor is worn and sinks, making it dangerous and something that should be repaired. The intervals between dishes were too long, which was unsettling. Breakfast wasn't great. They went to the trouble of bringing out a tagine pot, but when I opened it, all I found was maitake mushrooms, which ruined the presentation and was disappointing. The ozoni soup and processed New Year's food were lukewarm and not very tasty. There was free drinks in the fridge, but I would have preferred mineral water.

It has a nice, long-established feel to it, but I was bothered by the lack of cleanliness. There was blackening in the toilet, mold (or was it mold?) on the carpet in the hallway, blackening on the bathroom floor, dirt on the window sash, cracks between the shelves, cobwebs on the lights, dead insects, etc. These are small things, but the dirty feeling was unpleasant. The location is quiet and the sound of the waterfall and water is nice, so I think just changing the carpet and making it more clean and tidy would be a big improvement. The same goes for the garden... Considering the price and the hospitality, it's not worth it.

The food was delicious, this area is famous for pheasant so please give it a try. The service was also top-notch. The room and futons were also quite comfortable. However, the onsens themselves leave something to be desired. The inside onsens had crickets circling around as we were trying to enjoy the onsen. The outside private onsen was a nice experience and offered a decent view of a waterfall. However the water temperature was lukewarm and our friends that used the mens pool both developed a rash later that evening.
