Nasu onsen Shikanoyu Hot Spring

It has a 1,300-year history, with tubs ranging from 38°C up to 48°C in 2°C increments. Bring a 2 liter bottle of water into the bathing area. After you warm up in the tub, step outside to cool down while drinking water, then go back in to warm up again. Repeat this cycle. If you forget the water, you won’t be able to enjoy the hot spring so don’t forget it. Towels are sold there, so you can come empty handed. I may occasionally see foreign tourists, but they often forget to bring water, so they only get in the tub once or twice and leave, which is a shame.

Went there on weekday late afternoon, 450 yen for the entry but had to pay 400 yen more for a towel. So do not forget the towel with you. There are six deferent bath tabs based on the temperature of the hot spring, varying from 41C to 48C. I didn’t try above 46 for my health. The quality of the hot water is fine. Recommended.

It's beautiful place ...in backdrop of water stream just outside it's entrance... The hotspring water is piping hot about 48degree celcius.. The trail that leads to this place is also wonderful reminding you of walking through rugged n beautiful walkthrough of age old era

The baths have a majestic atmosphere with a sense of history. So impressive to actually be able to use the baths instead of just seeing them as a tourist attraction! Moreover, the baths are very inexpensive. I highly recommend stopping by here!
