This hot spring allows you to enjoy the high-quality spring water, which flows directly from the source. As the water is not heated or diluted, the temperature changes daily, so it's inevitable that reviews will vary. On the day I visited, it was warm, but it was just right for me, who likes to soak in long baths. The sauna was set to a temperature that would allow for thorough steaming, but as it is only large enough for 4-5 people, there was a wait when it got crowded. The cold bath is filled with flowing tap water and is just big enough for one person. You can enjoy an open-air bath. It is small, but there are wooden benches so you can relax.
This is a day-use hot spring attached to a hotel. The spring water is sodium-based, and it's a mild hot spring that you can drink. Some reviews say it's similar to Batou Onsen, but Batou Onsen has three different springs and is not similar to this one. It's closer to Minayukinoyu, which is nearby, and the slippery feeling is far from that of Batou Onsen. However, the hot spring has a faint scent of earth and kerosene, and it feels refreshing on the skin. Ladies' Day is 600 yen for women, but normally it's 800 yen for adults, so it's a little pricey for this area. Thank you for your hospitality.
As others have written, the hot spring is nice and thick. However, I can't stand the elderly regulars. They bring novels into the sauna, the elderly regulars talk loudly in the sauna, they soak in the cold bath without washing off their sweat, and they just linger wherever they want. They yell if even the slightest bit of hot water from the shower gets near the cold bath. These days, it's tough for inns to survive on overnight guests alone, so I understand why they focus on day-trip bathing, but it's a shame as the hot springs are so nice.
I always come here when my legs and back hurt. Many places say they have free-flowing hot spring water, but I think this is truly free-flowing. There is a lot of hot spring water, and the temperature varies depending on the day, which is a sign of reliability. Also, recently, the open-air bath has been reinstated as a drinkable spring, and drinking this water improves the stomach and intestines, and also makes you sweat more. It's spacious and easy to use.
I stayed with my family and it was great. The hot spring was particularly good and left my skin feeling moisturized. The facilities are old, but they were well-maintained. It has a Showa-era hotel feel and a nostalgic atmosphere. You can use the family bath without making a reservation, so I recommend it for people with small children. The large public bath was also clean, and the morning bath was great.
