ニューハートピア温泉 天然温泉ホテル長島

The food is secondary. It's worth staying here just for this "fossil hot spring." Nagashima is home to many glamorous hotels, but if you're looking for body maintenance (therapeutic bathing), I'd choose this one without a second thought. To be honest, the food was just average. The guests are mostly older, experienced hot spring enthusiasts, and the atmosphere is relaxed. But the quality of the spring water is truly incredible. This is a "fossil hot spring" that emerges from seawater trapped in ancient strata. It's not just a simple spring. It contains a generous amount of chloride (salt), creating a truly exceptional "thermal insulation" coating after bathing. Once you warm up, you'll stay warm until you get into bed. What's even more amazing is that despite its rich salt content, the hot spring is alkaline, with a pH of around 8.5. It simultaneously provides the warming effects of salt and exfoliating skin with alkalinity. It leaves your skin feeling smooth, yet your body feels almost hot inside. Even from a judo therapist's perspective, these are ideal specs, combining muscle relaxation with skin-beautifying benefits. One thing worth noting is that bathing is available from 5am. Having this rich fossil seawater all to myself in the silence of the morning was an irreplaceable luxury. [Note] The only thing to note is that the curfew is quite early, at midnight. It's not the best place for late-night fun, but this makes sense if you consider the original toji style of bathing - soaking in high-quality water and then going to bed early - is what you're after. There aren't any nightlife spots nearby, though.
First visit in January 2026. Went for a day trip. Bathing fee: 800 yen ⇒ 750 yen with JAF discount. If you use the discount, you pay at the hotel front desk to receive a ticket, which you then hand over at the large bath reception desk. If you don't use the discount, you go directly to the large bath reception desk and buy a ticket from the ticket machine nearby. The indoor bath is spacious with about four tubs, and although there is only one open-air bath, it has a sense of openness. The natural hot spring is yellowish-green in color and has a metallic smell, and it warmed me up very well.
As you get closer, you will see a large white sign. The hot spring is said to be a fossil spring with a salinity similar to that of normal saline, and the moment you open the door to the hot spring, you can smell the soft fragrance. There are open-air and indoor baths of different depths, as well as a steam room and a sauna, so you can relax and enjoy yourself. The staff come by frequently to clean the baths, so it feels very clean. We met in the lounge. After our bath, we were given a strawberry smoothie 🍓. It's delicious for both adults and children! So I recommend it.
The exterior resembled a town resort, and the interior was similar. The facility itself was old, and I felt that the amenities were gradually lacking. For example, there was no elevator, the large public bath was far from the room so I got …
There are many onsen pools including an outside one plus a steam room and sauna but not one drinking fountain in the dressing room.
