Ochiaiso

It's a traditional Japanese inn, but it's beautifully maintained and clean, making it incredibly comfortable! Being able to fall asleep listening to the sound of the river and gazing at a sky full of stars is simply amazing! Both breakfast and dinner are served leisurely in the adjacent room. Both were truly delicious! 💕💕 For dinner, we had the standard kaiseki course. I was worried the portion might be small, but there was plenty of chestnut rice, and we were absolutely stuffed! Everything from the appetizers to the soup, pickles, and dessert was truly, truly delicious! 👍✨✨ Breakfast was also Japanese style, and the onsen tamago (hot spring egg) was especially delicious! And the Kakegawa tea was also incredibly delicious!! The bath area has three showers. We could use it until 10 pm and from 6 am. It seems the hours vary depending on the number of guests. The lukewarm, soft water was absolutely fantastic! 👍👍✨✨ There's no refrigerator or alcohol vending machine, but they were very accommodating with all our requests. A truly homey and attentive inn! 💖 We'll definitely be back!
July 28, 2024 My family and I stayed here. The building is located across the river, and the large red bridge connecting it is impressive. I couldn't find a parking space, so I asked the staff and they told me I could park on the bridge. The building is old, but it's well-maintained and has a certain charm. The large bath is indoors only. It's lukewarm, so it's easy for children to use. The hot spring water is colorless and odorless, but it feels firming to the skin. It made a squeaky sound when I rubbed it with my fingers. The portion of rice was just right, but it might not be enough for big eaters. The room was fully air-conditioned and had a relaxing view of the river. The lack of a refrigerator in the room was a bit of a drawback. Also, the location is poor, and there are no convenience stores nearby. I recommend preparing any necessary supplies in advance. The staff were very helpful. My children, especially my daughter, loved it so much that we went to the hot spring three times. I think it was good value for money. I would definitely stay here again. Thank you.
I stayed at this inn with the Ocha beef shabu-shabu course. It was a quaint, warm inn. As others have written, it has a gentle, warm atmosphere that makes you feel like you're back at grandma's house. There is no refrigerator or safe in the room, but since you eat in your room and the door auto-locks, it's not really a big deal. Everything was absolutely delicious! The beef shabu-shabu was packed with beef and vegetables, and it was very filling. Other dishes included pickles, seasoned rice, sashimi, grilled salted sweetfish, and chawanmushi, all of which were truly delicious. The grilled salmon for breakfast was also perfectly salted. The bath was smaller than I expected, but if you can time your visit at a different time, you might be lucky enough to have it all to yourself. If I visit Kakegawa again, I'll definitely choose a different course. Thank you for your hospitality! 🙆♀
A secluded hot spring resort nestled deep in the mountains of Kakegawa ♨️ The building has the atmosphere of a Showa-era hot spring inn. While the rooms lack refrigerators and lockers for valuables, they are impeccably clean and well-maintained. A clear stream flows in front of the inn, and the sound of the babbling brook can be heard from the rooms. And the inn's greatest selling point is its cuisine. At first glance, it might seem like a typical, unremarkable country-style kaiseki meal, but you'll understand once you taste it. It's truly prepared with great care. The simmered dishes, in particular, were exquisite. I wouldn't recommend it to those expecting a completely pampered experience, but it's an inn that truly reminds you what "heartfelt hospitality" means. Even the single flower at the entrance shows the inn's thoughtful attention to detail.
Being surrounded by nature and hearing the sound of the river from the rooms makes for a very relaxing stay. The staff all have a warm and welcoming atmosphere, and the hot springs are very pleasant. The food was also delicious, leaving both adults and children full. It's also a great location, just a 30-minute drive from Kakegawa Kachouen Garden. What I personally enjoyed was that the staff member taught me how to properly serve grated yam at dinner. He seemed happy that my child had learned to do it so well, and served it to the whole family. It was a memory that was different from staying at a hotel.
