OMO7旭川 by 星野リゾート サウナ プラトー

Stayed 4n in Feb with a friend in their smallest room. The room was still large by comparison to other hotels, we could both open our large suit cases on the floor. Very clever use of space eg. Luggage bags fit under our beds. This hotel is a game changer for experience - with free welcome drinks, scheduled educational presentations for kids, drinks at night, ice blocks after hot bath.. as a ski hub it was great for easy access to mt pippu, Kamui ski links, mt asihakade (never tried this but option is there) for which they gave free vouchers to take respective buses. Note mt pippu was a regular bus, so ppl had to carry on board their ski gear, whereas Kamui bus was ski bus and gear could be stowed in bus storage. We also did one day in Furano which involved getting up at 6am, 20min walk to Asahikawa stn to take 6:40am Furano train & catch connecting 8:10am? bus to Kitomine terminal from Furano station. Back to OMO7 hotel: the staff were delightful and relatively fluent in English . Breakfast was a smorgasbord of western & Japanese cuisine and they also allow option to "cash out" breakfast coupon, if you want to skip a day. I have very little to complain about this hotel - i just love how modern it is but mostly how well it is run by the staff, and the community atmosphere it provides. Perhaps one improvement could be a free shuttle bus to Asahikawa station, which was about 20mins walk away. In any case I had no issues walking it - the snow light & ice festival was on whilst we were there so it was a beautiful walk. However post checkout - lugging luggage bags on some icy paths just took more time and extra care. All in all, great value for money, 5 stars!

I am extremely disappointed with my stay at this hotel, especially considering it is part of the OMO Group. From the first day of check-in, the bathtub drain was already clogged. By the second day, water had accumulated up to my ankles. I was forced to clean the drain myself and found a large amount of hair left by previous guests. This level of hygiene is unacceptable for any hotel, let alone a branded group property. Despite reporting the issue, it was not handled immediately and was only resolved the following day. Housekeeping quality was consistently poor. Towels were replaced daily but left casually in random places, and the toilet was difficult to flush. More concerning were the serious security failures at the front desk. When we requested replacement room key cards, the staff did not ask for our names, or any form of identity verification, and simply issued new key cards. This represents a severe lapse in basic hotel security procedures and raises serious concerns regarding guest safety. The newly issued key cards did not work, forcing us to return to the front desk again. During this process, I also observed that another guest’s credit card had been left unattended at the front desk terminal, with no staff awareness. This is a serious breach of guest privacy and data protection. Overall, this stay demonstrated major failures in hygiene standards, staff training, and security management. This experience fell far below any reasonable expectation for a hotel operating under an international group brand. I would not recommend this hotel to travelers who value cleanliness, safety, or professional service.

Visited in November 2024. Asahikawa, the mecca of northern saunas. Sauna lovers from all over Japan flock to Sauna Plateau, a hot spring facility located at OMO7 Asahikawa. Literally translated as "highland sauna," the scent of vihta (a bouquet of young birch branches and leaves), a Finnish tradition, wafts through the air. In addition to two types of saunas, dry and mist, there are also plenty of other options, including a reclining bath, walking bath, and bubble bath. Both automatic and self-service loyly baths are available, with men and women alternating in the morning and evening. There's also a penguin-shaped sauna hut inspired by Asahiyama Zoo. Cool down with popsicles and detox water provided in the lounge. The joy of warming yourself from the inside out in the frigid north. Relieve travel fatigue and restore balance and harmony in your mind and body with a comfortable wellness stay. *Currently, day trips are not available and the facility is limited to overnight guests. *Photographed with special permission.

I was going to Asahiyama Zoo the next day, so I stayed here mainly for the polar bear room, and I was very satisfied. Adorable animals greeted me from the moment I entered the lobby, and the hotel was very well-designed, with handmade tourist maps and other amenities. The polar bear room was, needless to say, incredibly cute, and I spent about an hour taking photos. lol It was truly a joy to be surrounded by polar bears, even in the smallest details. The hotel was also well-maintained, which was great. The large public bath was also spacious, so I was able to bathe without it being crowded. However, it seemed a little warmer than I expected... But maybe it was just that moment... The breakfast buffet had seafood, but also a delicious array of breads, and just looking at them was a joy. The food was, of course, delicious. I'd definitely stay here again if I'm in Asahikawa.

I'm a local in Asahikawa, but I occasionally stop by for a night. It's a great place. The baths and saunas are impressive, and on the first floor, there's a tour by Omoranger, a zoo lecture, and free drinks, including sparkling wine. There's so much to enjoy that you'll barely have time. The seasonal bonfire bar was also great. The Halloween decorations were amazing. Even from a local perspective, the restaurants recommended by Omoranger have a great mix of classic and trendy, and they change things up every once in a while, which is helpful. The breakfast, however, was a bit... To put it nicely, it was like a dessert buffet, stylish and beautiful, but as a fan of Japanese food, the side dishes with rice were a bit lacking. Then I noticed an older man at another table muttering, "I'd like some grilled salmon or grilled mackerel."
