From the entrance to Geto Onsen Ski Resort, the road narrows a little and it takes about 15 minutes to walk along the winding road. This secret hot spring in the mountains used to be crowded with people who wanted to take a cure❗️Nowadays, it is crowded with many people looking for the secret hot spring. 📌Day trip bathing hours are 10:00-15:00 📌The bathing fee is 700 yen for junior high school students and above and 350 yen for children 📌This time, I will talk from a female perspective. First of all, you should know ※You cannot wear a yukata robe. This is because the water is drained every night and left to collect overnight, and no disinfectant is added. ※Colorless? It's transparent, so you can feel people's gazes even when you're in the bathtub! *If you want to relax in the open-air baths along the river, go first thing in the morning (10:00-11:00 and 17:00-18:00) - in other words, during those hours, men can only use the lowest temperature (42-43°) and the largest mixed-gender open-air bath = Shinyu ✨ 📌There is an indoor bath for men and women called Kotengu-no-Yu. To move from here to the open-air bath, you need to put on clothes again, so not many people go in. 📌 Women-only open-air bath = Taki no Yu (It's an indoor bath called an open-air bath, but if you look through the window you can see the river below. Sometimes you'll make eye contact with men cooling off in the warm colic bath (lol). When you enter from the changing room, there is hot water and a small tub of warm water. Personally, I think the hot water is so hot you might get burned! If you're a woman who can't take mixed baths after considering the above, you can relax your body in the indoor bath and Taki no Yu ^_^
Finally, I got to soak in the Geto hot springs I'd longed for. I always come to this area in the middle of winter ❄️ I'd see the posters at the station and think, "I want to go to Geto in the summer..." My wish reached the heavens and I finally made it. Unlike the world below, the powerful sodium hot springs gush forth from the earth. I think this is the first time I've experienced such intensely concentrated spring water. Ashamed of my selfish desire to enjoy the mixed bathing, I immersed myself in the extremely hot main bath as a form of training, but I couldn't last more than a few seconds. I'm still so inexperienced. Both the journey there and back was filled with enjoyment and a sense of accomplishment, purifying my heart. I pray to the heavens once again that I can come back here again in my lifetime.
Geto Onsen, a hidden hot spring in Iwate Prefecture. It's located 9km down a narrow road where it's difficult for cars to pass each other. There are four mixed-gender open-air baths along the river, as well as an indoor bath and a women-only bath. Please note that the mixed-gender open-air bath also has a women-only time. As of September 2022, the path to the hot springs on the other side of the river was broken. I forced my way across the river to get in, but it hadn't been cleaned and there were river crabs floating in the tub. At this time of year, the water in the large bath at the very back is over 45°C, making it impossible to stay in. You'll get burned!! Just dip your feet in and feel the heat, then move on to another bath! Maybe I'll come back before it closes for winter...
I went to Motoyu Geto. It was the autumn foliage season, so the scenery was beautiful. The open-air bath is also located along the river, so the sound of the flowing river and negative ions are very relaxing as you bathe. As for the temperature of the water, - Oyu is hot (about 45°C). The bath area is large and can fit about 10 people. - Kanki no Yu is lukewarm (smelled of moss) (about 35°C). The bath area is small and can fit about 4 people. - Me no Yu was lukewarm (about 37°C). The bath area is small and can fit about 5 people. - Shinyu is just the right temperature (about 39°C). It can fit about 10 people. - Kotengu no Yu is an indoor bath, but the temperature is warm (about 41°C). It can fit about 10 people. *There are baths of various temperatures.
The water is quite hot ♨️ It might be a challenge to get in during the hot summer months 💦😆😇 When I was in the mixed bath, I encountered some rude people who were genuinely enjoying the hot springs ♨️. 😓 They would purposely peek into the women's changing room while bathing, or follow women as they went in and out 😥 Even though we paid the same amount to bathe, being constantly watched was extremely uncomfortable 😤😤 This might seem self-conscious, but I could tell they were purposely staring at the women as they were bathing... I hate to say this, but I really wanted everyone to enjoy the hot springs ♨️.
