Osorezan Wild hot spring

The spring was located on the banks of the Shotsu River, the only river flowing from Lake Usoriyama (aka Lake Usori) into the Tsugaru Strait. The sand was very soft, yellowish in places due to its high sulfur content, making it very unstable to walk on. When there's no wind, sulfur gases can be dangerous. (June 19, 2024)

I stopped here on a motorcycle trip through Hokkaido and Tohoku in September 2025. The deserted, clear blue river was steaming everywhere, creating a desolate landscape that felt like another world, creating a wonderful, otherworldly atmosphere.

The road along the river on the way to Osorezan had a strong smell of hydrogen sulfide, and when you looked at the river, it had turned an ochre color, and you couldn't help but feel excited, thinking that you had arrived in hell.

Visited in early November As I was climbing up Prefectural Route 4 from the Tsugaru Strait, I was suddenly hit by the smell of sulfur and the wide open view. "Ah, I've come to hell!" I thought, my excitement reaching its peak.

A place with a beautiful view and the smell of sulfur. I would like to come again if I have the opportunity (^^)v
