Panthalassa Nomi Ashikaga Hot Spring

I was driving aimlessly when I saw a sign for a hot spring, so I made a detour. The owner said they were operating in temporary tent rooms due to the effects of COVID-19, but for me, who loves private rooms, it was the perfect hidden hot spring! The wooden bathtub was filled with fresh water each time, so it was clean and very pleasant to soak in. The water quality was clear, maybe slightly cloudy? It was soft, and my skin felt a little tingly afterwards. My skin was smooth after bathing, and it relieved swelling in my legs and stiff shoulders, leaving me feeling refreshed. While the bath was filling, they served tea and candied yuzu, which wasn't too sweet, had a slightly bitter, nostalgic taste, and was delicious. After my bath, I chatted with the owner over hot spring coffee, and it was so enjoyable that I lost track of time. I was impressed by the owner's words about wanting visitors to leave feeling completely relaxed and healed. Not only was the hot spring wonderful, but the comfortable atmosphere of the place was also incredibly relaxing! I definitely want to come back!

I visited the hot spring just after 12:30 on March 6, 2026. I entered through the entrance and the receptionist explained the different types of hot springs. The prices were higher than listed on the website. While the hot spring water was being poured, I was served tea and a yuzu dessert. It was delicious. Within 10 minutes, I was guided to the hot spring. Leaving the reception and walking straight, I met a young man who guided me. I chose the Ogama hot spring. Even though I'm 157 cm tall, I was able to stretch my legs out. As a service, they provided a box filled with 50-degree hot spring water, so you can increase the temperature there. I spent 10 minutes in the bath, then came out, sat in a chair, and cooled down, repeating this cycle. Foot mats are provided, but please bring your own towel. You can rent them on site for 200 yen. After your bath, you can relax in one of the five beds. It was a great hot spring. I'll come again.

The system allows you to select the number, size, and temperature of the bathtubs and purchase the hot spring water of your choice. Since it was my first time using the facility, I chose the smallest bath and, since it was summer, requested a warm 38°C. However, they also provided a small container of unheated hot spring water, which I poured over my head and enjoyed alternating with the open air bath. It took a while for the hot water to be prepared, but the reception area was a cafe, so it was enjoyable. The hamburger was delicious. Simple hot spring (hypotonic, weakly alkaline, low-temperature spring) Weakly alkaline with a pH of 7.9. Low-temperature hot spring with a temperature of 29.1°C. Flow rate: 210.2 liters/minute. It's a hot spring that you wouldn't normally notice (lol). I decided to treat myself to a visit. It's a popular place thanks to word of mouth, and although it's open on an unconventional schedule, it's a very homey place. 🥰 It's deep in the mountains, so if you're not a fan of bugs, it might be a challenge. 🏞️ You can adjust the water temperature to your liking, which is great for someone like me who likes lukewarm water.

I'd been wanting to go for ages and finally made it there on Friday. It was cloudy and a little chilly that day, perfect for a bath. Bathing while peeking at the autumn foliage from inside the tent was amazing. Just as the staff said, the water quality was excellent; my skin was still moisturized the next day even without applying anything! 😆 Next time, I'll bring a plastic container and buy some hot spring water! 😁
