ポンネベツ冷泉ポンネ湯

In May 2025, I saw a sign for "Ponne Yu" and stopped by. The name means "ponne" (small) and "betsu" (river) in the Ainu language. It was a place that supplies hot spring water. The effects and a 2019 analysis sheet were posted on the wall. It is diluted 5 to 10 times before use. One to two 18L plastic containers are needed for a 180L household bathtub. I didn't have any plastic containers with me this time, so I just smelled the sulfur. Apparently, there is a paid delivery service within Iwamizawa city. It is free, but donations are needed to maintain the facility in order for it to continue operating. I later learned that sulfur components can damage stainless steel bathtubs and pipes, but I think it will be fine if you wash it thoroughly after use. Plastic bathtubs without a reheating function should be fine.

Visited on May 4, 2022... It was still out of order. I wish I could have had this high-quality hot spring water. I'll go again. Update: It reopened on August 15th!! I'm so touched. This was my first time buying hot spring water here (it's a voluntary contribution system; I put in 500 yen). You have to pull a long hose that always has hot spring water from the source and pour it into the tank, so be careful as you might get soaked. The water looks clear at first glance, but it has a pretty strong sulfur smell. This looks quite promising. I received two plastic containers this time. Apparently, if you put this in your bath, your bath at home will turn into a hot spring. I'm looking forward to trying it when I get back.

I visited yesterday, March 28, 2022, but there was no hot spring water. Since February 24, 2022, Hot water has not been delivered. We are currently investigating the cause, so please wait for a while until service is restored. That's what they said. I hope it's fixed soon. Visited June 26, 2022!! Hot spring! It's back!!! I feel like the smell of the hot spring is stronger than before. The amount of water seems to have increased as well.

With just one plastic container, you can enjoy enough hot spring water to fill your bathtub at home. I have atopic dermatitis, but when I soak in the hot springs here, my body feels very moisturized and I can really feel the itching subside. Repair costs and the costs of pumping the hot spring water are covered by local volunteers, so we ask for donations if possible.

I was able to draw 15 liters. I was able to enjoy the hot spring atmosphere in my own home bathtub, smelling the light sulfur scent. It seems to be very effective, the water felt great on my skin, and my body felt warm for a while after I got out of the bath. I'll definitely be a repeat customer
