Sakai Onsen Yumotokan

I was a little worried after reading the reviews, but the food was amazing. It was fresh, tasty, and presented with care, and the portions were very generous. It was my first time trying blue crab, and it was delicious. I couldn't finish the rice, so I had them made into onigiri. I'm glad they serve a boat-shaped platter for this price these days. The hot spring was filled with a variety of sizes, and citrus fruits floating around, which was very relaxing. I hope someone crowdfunds to help renovate the building! With views of the ocean and planes taking off and landing at Chubu Centrair International Airport, it could be transformed into a wonderful inn. 😊 I stayed in a Japanese-Western room, and although it was clean, I was concerned about the lack of a washlet and the old door to my room. I wonder if they spent too much money on a glamping facility? It's a shame! In the summer, you can probably swim in the ocean and enjoy the beach right in front of you. 😊

For dinner, the migratory crab included in the plan would have been served if we hadn't mentioned it. Chawanmushi and sake-steamed clams were also not served. (Apparently, clams were unavailable at this time of year, so soba noodles were served instead of chawanmushi.) Fried shrimp was served abruptly, and then mandarin oranges were brought out at the end, which would have been the end of it, but when we mentioned the crab, they served it right away. I also noticed a difference in the way local customers were treated compared to those from outside the prefecture. The hot springs were fine.

This inn was reasonably priced and the food was delicious! The ingredients were probably high quality, but the seasoning was neither too strong nor too bland... All the food, breakfast and dinner, was delicious. The hot springs had a unique smell that I think was effective. 🤣 The facilities are old, so I recommend this to people who don't mind. (There are a few bugs, as the area is surrounded by nature.) And all the staff were warm and lovely! I chose this place based solely on price, but I had a great time from start to finish. 😆

I used this hot spring for the first time as a day trip. I called ahead to confirm. The male staff member at the front desk was very helpful and made me feel good. The bath is on the 5th floor and has an ocean view, and you can even see Chubu Centrair International Airport. There are two types of baths, and the temperature was just right. It's an older inn, but 500 yen is unbelievable in this day and age! I'll definitely be back! I want to stay overnight too!

I used it as a day spa on a Saturday in January 2026. 500 yen for adults is cheap, but there was no security. The lockers in the changing rooms didn't have locks, and there were no locked ones available, even for a fee, so I felt uneasy. Fortunately, there were no other users there, but I still felt uneasy. I think it would be nice if they at least made an announcement at reception that there were no keys.
