This is a review of the day-use bathing facility "Makekirai no Yu." It's attached to a traditional Japanese inn, but it also offers day-use bathing. The entrance to the parking lot is a little hard to find, so you might get lost. The bath is typical of a traditional Japanese inn, and isn't as flashy as a super public bath, but it has a large main bath, a sauna, a cold bath, and a Japanese garden-style open-air bath. It's not overly crowded, so you can enjoy a relaxing bath. The open-air bath, in particular, is surrounded by nature, perhaps because it's located in the mountains, giving it a very open feeling. It's a bath worth stopping by when you visit Tanba Sasayama.

I only used the hot spring, but since it was a holiday, it was fairly crowded with guests. In addition to the regular hot spring, there was an open-air bath, a daily changing bath, and a sauna. The indoor bath was lukewarm, which was perfect for me as I don't like hot water. The only disappointing points were that the sink was too close to the wall, making it impossible to pass behind it, and that steam condensed on the ceiling, causing water to drip when I was soaking in the bathtub.

From April 1, 2019, for two years, the bathing facilities and accommodations will be closed. Those with current plans should take note. However, the restaurant will remain open. Until March 30, 2019, you can enter the bathhouse after checking in at 10 PM, the latest closing time in the area. On March 31, 2019, the restaurant and bathhouse will close earlier. For those who want to enjoy a relaxing bath, this is arguably the best bathhouse in the area.

We visited the hot spring and restaurant for a day trip. The hot spring was clear and colorless, and there was no one there. There was also an open-air bath. The restaurant served their specialty, peony hotpot. It was a high-quality hotpot, so my brother enjoyed it, too, as it was very tender and delicious. 👌 We were very satisfied. 😄 …

I stopped off at the hot springs on my way back from the Sasayama Marathon. Athletes can bathe for free on the day! The hot springs are just the right temperature and warm you up. It's perfect for soothing a tired body. I bought some Tanba black bean kintsuba and black bean tea as souvenirs. I'll definitely come again.
