Seisenkaku

I stayed overnight and booked the duck hotpot course. Since the bath isn't at a hot spring resort, I wasn't expecting much, but it was a natural hot spring and we had it all to ourselves! It was a relaxing soak in a hot spring for the first time in a while! Now, the main course, duck hotpot. I've always loved duck, but this was different from the duck I've eaten before! The ones I was familiar with were Aigamo duck! But Seisenkaku's were Mallard duck! They're both ducks, but what else have I been eating before that has such a different taste? Duck hotpot with duck and water parsley. It was a memorable duck hotpot. P.S. The sashimi was as delicious as what you'd get at a seaside inn!
Perhaps because it's not a large accommodation facility, the only heating is in the rooms, so it was very cold when I went out. There was also no large bath, only three family-style baths. Permission to use them was required from the front desk, which was a bit of a hassle. The facility was generally kept clean, but it was disappointing that the cleaning of the finer details wasn't thorough enough... The Gochoshi Nabe course was quite filling and delicious, but I was a little disappointed that the only other dish besides the hotpot was sashimi... I think it would have been nice if they had included at least some tempura!
There was no Wi-Fi. Maybe it was the off-season, or maybe it was just the three of them sharing the space, so I guess that's unavoidable. It has a family bath, so if you have children, they might enjoy a nice bath. But it was a bit of a hassle having to go and get a key every time you wanted to use the bath. They didn't help me with the heavy luggage I had when I arrived, and just showed me to my room on the second floor, and at that point I thought, "That's it."
There was a huge sign in the parking lot of the Yokoyama mountain trail that read "Natural Stone Hot Spring Seisenkaku," so I thought it was a day-trip hot spring, but it turned out to be a lodging facility for overnight stays only. Is this sign alone a ryokan? Or just a restaurant? Or a day-trip hot spring facility? I don't know.
We stayed on a plan that included Omi beef shabu-shabu. ||It was very delicious. ||The matsutake mushroom rice had a wonderful aroma, and even though I was full, I ate it all up. ||There were three types of private baths, which was great …
