Shichijo Onsen Dome

The facilities and staff here are wonderful. However, I was shocked by the poor manners of the people using the baths here. Especially the cold bath. There are a lot of old men who pour their heads and faces directly into the water from the cold bath faucet. It's disgusting. They put towels directly into the cold bath, or sit on the edge of the tub to rest. I think only people who can tolerate being up close with people with bad manners can use this facility. I couldn't do that. Of course, I'm sure there are many people who follow the rules, but their bad manners are so noticeable that you don't even notice them. I hope the facility takes measures. Unfortunately, this is a facility where people who follow the rules properly end up losing out.

The staff are nice, but the manners and quality of the customers are the worst in Kumamoto. Because there are so many customers even during the day, they need to add more benches in the changing room, and the washroom space is small considering the number of customers. The changing room is too small, and it's not cleaned properly. When I was taking a break on the bench the first time I used the place, a regular customer told me to move and even called me ugly. The quality of the customers there is so poor, I would advise against using the place. I will never use it again. The staff should make occasional rounds to keep an eye on the place. There are some regular customers with bad manners.

I started at night, but the quality of the customers? Or should I say, the women's walking bath was really the worst. There was a group of loud-mouthed middle-aged women babbling away about personal information, and one time, one middle-school-aged girl who happened to be sightseeing told me in a harsh tone that if I was going to walk slowly, I should walk on the right side! I was so surprised that I got up right away. They spoke like they were there every day. It was really unpleasant. It was my first time there, and they glared at me a lot! Are the ladies who come every day really that important? It's the worst!

Restaurant Extreme Tonkatsu? I shouldn't have eaten it. It was so awful. It tasted like tenderized meat that had been breaded and then made into tonkatsu. (I asked where it was from, and they said it was imported.) I couldn't pay for this. It tasted like a cheap tonkatsu deli. I don't understand why it's so popular. I was the only one eating this menu item at the time... It seems there's no karaoke when there are large groups. There are many hot springs.

Great selection of baths, and very cheap. Probably as a result of that it's very popular, so you might want to plan your trip accordingly. Knocked off one star for the ridiculous smoking area in the lobby that's open at the top and bottom. If you go at a busy time the whole lobby smells like an ashtray. If they fixed that it'd be perfect for the price.
