This was my first stay in Shiga Kogen outside of ski season. To be honest, since it's a lodge located in a ski resort, I didn't have high expectations as the reviews suggested... However, I was very satisfied with the room, which had a hot spring bath, ample amenities, free local beer and soft drinks in the refrigerator, hot and cold coffee and tea available, and a clean room. As other reviewers have said, the food for breakfast and dinner was also delicious. The gratin was especially amazing! It was so filling, I was truly sorry I couldn't finish it. I like alcohol, but when I order alcohol with meals, I often get a highball that's filled to the brim, rather than the small glasses you get at hotels and inns. It's rare to find one like that. The staff, both male and female, were very attentive and friendly, and I'm really glad I stayed here. This lodge has left a lasting impression on me and is highly recommended. As I was the only one leaving, I wrote this review to express my gratitude to all the staff. Thank you so much.

This hot spring inn is located within the Shiga Kogen ski resort. With the slopes right in front of it, it's an ideal setting for skiers and snowboarders. I don't do either, but I visited hoping to try the snow-viewing bath and gondola ride. My stay exceeded my expectations. I had the impression it was geared toward skiers, but the food was delicious and well-prepared. The view from the open-air bath was also amazing, and it was always private, probably because there weren't many people using the hot springs. The room was clean, and even equipped with a massage chair and a semi-open-air bath, making for a very comfortable stay. To get there, take the bus from Nagano Station to Shiga Kogen and get off at "Yama no Eki." From there, take the gondola, which is right in front of the inn. Guests can use the gondola for free round-trip rides by mentioning "I'm staying at XX inn." Even if you're not into winter sports, this is a wonderful inn where you can relax and enjoy the snowy scenery and hot springs.

Thank you for the warm welcome and the fun dinner conversation, even without our knowledge of Japanese! Our room was beautiful and it was my first time in a sulfur spring. Dinner and breakfast were traditional, filling and tasty (especially Nagano's apples are truly amazing). This hotel is more suitable for skiers, because there is no territory around except the mountain and the funiculars. But we still had a great rest. Спасибо!

This is probably the only inn in Japan that I would stay again for the food. The meals were like fine dining made with local specialities in a creative way. Think apple baked with soup and cheese. Excellent service from the staff who made effort to explain the dishes in English. Room is maintained well. The massage chair and onsen in the room helped to relax the muscles after a ski day

Superb hotel, right on the slopes, with a very welcoming team and excellent half-board. The public onsen is relatively small but has a lovely mountain view. We had a beautiful Japanese-style room with a private onsen 😍
