This time, I took a drive around the Yabakei area. 🚙☀ A hidden hot spring ♨️ [Tororo-no-yu] nestled in the mountains. Even with the increased entrance fee, it's still an incredible ¥500! 👀 It's a bargain, considering it's a natural hot spring. 💦 Great value for money ✨ and the place is well-maintained and clean. 👍 There's an indoor hot spring, an outdoor bath, and a stone-paved bottled water bath. The water is a clear, colorless, odorless alkaline simple spring with a metasilicic acid content of 132 mg and a pH of 8.6, making it ideal for beautiful skin. 💡 The source temperature is 33.6°C, and the slightly thick water is gentle on the skin. 🎵 Four wash stations are available, and amenities like body soap and rinse-in shampoo are always provided. ☺️ The open-air hot bath ☀, surrounded by mountain views and a manicured green garden, allows you to feel the natural beauty of the mountains and refresh your body and mind. 😌⤴️ At the attached restaurant, Tororo-an, you can enjoy charcoal grills and meals in front of a pond filled with the sounds of a babbling river and swimming carp. ✨ The charcoal grills on the hibachi grill are popular, and we ordered charcoal-grilled local chicken and charcoal-grilled wild boar for everyone. 💡 A single serving is 1,600 yen, but you get a free refill of seasoned rice. ❤️ The side dishes are also filling, so I was surprised. ⤴️✨ Also, grilling and eating while feeling the natural breeze in the quiet mountains is the best. 😍💨 The staff were very friendly and the food was delicious. 🍖🔥 There's a coin locker for valuables! There's also a gravel parking lot. 🅿️🚙 with about six spaces. ☺️ Be careful along the way, as there are some narrow roads that make it difficult to pass other vehicles. 💡 June 15, 2025

Came here whilst driving to Nakatsu and saw the signboard. Decided to turn in and try their onsen. The road is a little bit narrow for a car, typical mountain village and you have to drive carefully. However the road in is beautiful and tranquil. At the end of the road you will reach a little house with both a shokudo restaurant an onsen. We did not try their food as we were still quite full, but it does look delicious. The onsen is 400 yen per adult, new towel at 250 yen. There are indoor and outdoor bath. The indoor bath is clean with shampoo and body soap but the indoor pool was too hot for me that day. The thermometer was showing 45 deg celcius, but my partners side (ladies) is at a wonderful 42 deg celcius. I tried the mens outdoor bath and it was simply spectacular. The mountain view is superb. However the water is not as hot as i would have liked due to being exposed to cold outdoor air. I had to stay near the source to be warmer. Overall it was a nice bath and we both truely enjoyed it. Highly recommend to drop by for the onsen when you are enroute either to nakatsu or beppu/oita.

The hot springs ♨️ were perfect for soaking away the fatigue of a long ride 🏍️. Since it was lunchtime, my senior and I had the place to ourselves. 😄 The indoor bath was just the right temperature, and the outdoor bath was lukewarm, allowing for a long soak. 👍 It didn't have the slippery feeling you'd expect from grated yam. The water was truly grated. 😎 I was aiming for the charcoal grilled set meal, but since I was on a motorcycle 🛵, I opted for the local chicken soba noodles. ✨ This was also delicious. 😋 The shaved ice 🍧 after the meal was blue Hawaiian 🌺, which cooled me down. This hot spring facility is located as you head up the mountain from near the Yabakei Sani Interchange. There are some narrow sections along the way, so please drive slowly, both on motorbikes and in cars. It's open from 10:00 on weekends and holidays, and from 11:00 on weekdays. The parking lot is unpaved but can accommodate 5-6 cars. The bicycle parking area is located below, and is paved, but faces the river. The hot spring is 500 yen. Amenities are provided, including a hair dryer. The hot spring has an indoor bath, an open-air bath, and a small cold bath in the open-air bath. The temperature is lukewarm in the open-air bath, and around 40 degrees in the indoor bath, but unfortunately the temperature is different between the top and bottom. Because it's deep in the mountains, it was quiet and I was able to soak in it for a long time.

The hot spring has a pH of 8.6, a metasilicic acid content of 132 milligrams, and is colorless, clear, odorless, and tasteless. The source is a 33.6-degree hot spring, and it's thick but not too runny. After a while, it becomes moisturizing, just the right balance. The facility offers an indoor bath, an open-air bath, and a cold bath. My skin felt smooth after a bath. The bathing fee is 500 yen. You can also dine on charcoal-grilled set meals at the attached restaurant, which cost 1,600 yen and included wild boar and local chicken. The value for money is average. Because it's charcoal-grilled, the far-infrared rays cook it thoroughly, so it's ready to eat. The country soup is highly recommended, with plenty of ingredients.
