I went with my family, and overall, I felt the service level at the facility was terrible. I think it was significantly lower than the hot spring facilities in Morioka and Sendai in Tohoku. This means fewer repeat customers, and it's a shame that the number of customers using Akita's hot spring facilities is declining. ① I was surprised at how limited the lunch menu was at the restaurant. It was the first time I'd seen a hot spring facility with such a limited menu. ② You need sandals or your own shoes to enter the restaurant and relaxation room. The lack of sandals felt out of place and unacceptable. ③ I felt the staff's customer service level was low. I felt they weren't properly trained. ④ The in-house and ondol clothing were not interchangeable, so it was a hassle to change clothes every time. ⑤ The price of the ondol didn't match the service. Compared to other hot spring facilities, I felt that 500 yen for one ondol was expensive. ⑥ The water in the reclining bath wasn't distributed properly and the temperature was inconsistent. The facility isn't properly managed. There were many other concerns, but I'll refrain from mentioning them. I love hot spring facilities, so I gave a harsh review in the hope that Akita City's hot spring facilities will do better.
Although I checked in late, the front desk staff were extremely courteous. I've used the baths for day trips before, but this time the water was quite hot and I couldn't stay in them for very long. Complimentary drinks and breakfast were included, so I don't have any major complaints, but there were a few items that I wish were warmer. I brought the wrong linens (towels and bath towels), so I called them, and they were very kind and accommodating.
This is a very lovely onsen with multiple baths. It is on the pricier side of onsens per person, but it's worth it. I enjoy trying all the different types of baths, and can easily spend three hours here doing different self care regimens. You can also schedule a massage, which one of my friends had scheduled while we had bought onsen tickets. Unfortunately, this onsen bans people with tattoos, but I hope that can change in the future.
It's a 10 minute walk from Akkita JR station and costs 900 yen to enter. It's very big with an indoor and 2 outdoor areas. Indoors consists of a sauna and a couple of pools varying in temperature as well as an ice-cold pool. Outdoors has also several different pools with varying temps and it was awesome to relax there in the cold evening soaking in the water. All in all, I had a great time there
Never stayed but it’s a great place to relax. The baths are lovely and they even have a tepid temperature bath which I love. The outdoor baths are very atmospheric on rainy days. After the baths, there are rooms to relax in and the restaurant has a great selection of well priced food. If you’re traveling, you can even do your laundry at 200 yen + 100 / 30 min for drying.
