Takaoonsen Hikari Hot Spring

I visited on a Saturday evening. I'm not sure if it was because the price was a little high at 900 yen, but it wasn't overly crowded and there weren't many small children there. There are indoor and outdoor baths, as well as a sauna. The outdoor bath was spacious and not too hot, so I was able to relax and enjoy it. The hot spring water is a little thick, and is colorless, transparent, and odorless, but it left my skin feeling moisturized, which was great! The facility was well-cleaned and not too noisy, which was great! The young female receptionist was also very kind, and I had a pleasant stay. The prices are a little higher than other places, but the baths are spacious and clean, and it wasn't overly crowded, so I was happy.

If you're killing time in Maizuru City, I recommend this natural hot spring. It's located along National Route 27, just off the Maizuru-Wakasa Expressway at Nishi-Maizuru. The bathing fee of 720 yen seems a little high, but we hold our year-end and New Year's parties in Maizuru every year, so we're very grateful for this place. Enjoying the open-air bath, indoor bath, sauna, and cold bath at this natural hot spring, followed by a beer, is truly the best. However, rather than a dining area, I would prefer a rest area where you can lie down and relax while using your smartphone.

This is a hot spring I forced myself to visit just to kill time because there is absolutely nothing to do in this city. The journey there is rough and long, but the water is so good that it makes up for it. However, Google Maps saying you can walk there is a lie; you absolutely cannot walk from the station. You must take a taxi. It costs 1,000 yen from the station. On the way back, if you pay 10 yen at the counter and ask them to call a taxi for you, they will. Neither the taxi nor the bathhouse accepts cards. Everything is cash only.

I stayed there until the time of the ferry. The parking lot is large, but it was almost full in the evening. It's open until 9:30pm. The fee is a little on the expensive side at 800 yen. You leave your shoe locker key at the reception and receive a locker key. All amenities are provided. There are many types of baths to choose from, including open-air baths, jet baths, saunas, and cold baths. There was also a restaurant, but it was closed for reservations. However, there was a water cooler and the rest area was spacious and relaxing.

Visited on a Monday which is a public holiday. Not crowded at all from Noon to 3pm. I had the ladies' open-air bath all to myself for a while and the whole restaurant the whole time i was having lunch there. Every staff was polite and hardworking. Never seen idling. If they are not cleaning the floors, they are cleaning the counter tops.. even disinfectanting the ticket machines. Super clean establishment. The Tempura set consisted of 7 tempura items. ¥900. Delicious.
