teamLab: Hidden Traces of Rice Terraces Hot Spring

This place is absolutely amazing and I'd 1000% recommend it. I have found about this place as i have stayed last November at Mifuneyama ryokan in Takeo Onsen that is also run by teamLab so i was looking for a similar experience. The staff were super friendly and attentive and the facilities really good. We stayed in a cottage C-01 and it was the best as it has private onsen and the mirror room. There ia a public onsen too when you stay at the glamping tent. And the outdoor onsen was super fun. We also added lobster and special wagyu to our pre ordered meal and it was spectacular. Everything was super tasty. I was a bit hesitant about the dinner as you have to grill it yourself and this is not something I like to do... but my friend cooked it and it was easier than we thought. Everything from start to finish was very well though and planned with clear instructions. We arrived by train and just walked there as we love to walk. There are plwty of taxis and it's only 6min ride or 20min walk. We arrived earlier, dropped out baggs and went to explore the area. It's such a beautiful place and you can easily spend whole day there. There were few hiccups hence the 4star instead of 5. The main installation that draw my attention to this place was out of order and the notification came very late. Despite that, it was still very enjoyable and magical stay so that's ok. It was just very unexpected but can't be helped. Im very glad we didn't cancel it! Secondly, on check out we were given incorrect bill of our neighbours. The bill was all in Kanji so I would not even noticed. I just paid whatever was presented and i dont really check my bills when on holidays... my fault as well. It spoiled our good mood a bit but things happens. We are all humans. All in all, I'd stay here again in a heartbeat! Couldn't recommend enough. It was so relaxing and the best way to finish out holiday. Thank you for amazing and memorable stay.

Experiencing Hidden Traces is absolutely worth the trip to Izura. I would recommend taking a car from Tokyo so you can easily get around the surrounding areas as the location isn’t close to the train and cabs don’t give you the freedom to explore the coast. We made a few mistakes with our planning which I can explain. My husband is vegetarian and very allergic to shellfish and we had hoped to reserve the grilled meal options with only vegetables. We’ve done this before at other similar locations. However, our messages via email and Instagram were not received on time. I thought we could more easily resolve it in person since vegetarian food for grilling doesn’t require special preparation, only removing meat and seafood. We were not able to resolve this easily and the surrounding area is not a vegetarian friendly town, which is common for smaller towns all over the world. So, I’m not upset about this. To have planned better for our experience we would have either driven from Tokyo with our own food or stayed only one night rather than two at the glamping site. Since we didn’t have a car, it was a bit inconvenient to get around and it felt like we shouldn’t be at the property during the day. They shut down between 10 am and 3 pm while they prepare for new guests so you can’t expect to use the onsen other facilities during those hours. This is another reason to take a car so you can leave. If you’re going to experience the TeamLab exhibit, I recommend traveling for one night, staying there, and either returning to Tokyo or traveling to other locations. Our experience would have been much more enjoyable had we done this.

Since we were staying in the hotel, we got to go to the exhibition very late, and we ended up being the only visitors at that time and had the whole light installations for us. The light exhibition was amazing. Completely blew our mind. They've never let us down. The room was large, clean and comfortable, had everything we needed. If you are staying in a tent, when you need to go to the toilets you'll have to go to a shared toilet a few meters away from your tent. That didn't really bother us since despite being glamorous, this is still camping. Dinner was fun. Just like when you do camping, you have to make your own barbecue, but everything is prepared so you actually only need to do the part where you put the meat on the grill...which saves you the hassle that you would have if you go on a real camping. It was bit cold at night when having dinner though, because the dining space was not heated. Overall a definitely fun and comfortable experience.

What an amazing experience at teamLab hidden traces of rice terraces. I can not believe it's not more popular, Maybe because of the time of the year. It was incredibly peaceful, amazing scenery and use of sound. The facilities are great. Definitely consider going here and stay if you have the chance. Arriving with public transport can be done by train and about half an hour walk from the station or 5 min taxi drive from the nearest station.

Just wow! The glamping was great. The onsen was fantastic. But best of all, the art installation was wonderful, outstandingly creative and emotionally uplifting. The best day of our 2 week holiday. See it before it gets overwhelmed by tourists.
