天然温泉 桧の湯

Honestly one of the best rotenburo (outdoor baths) I have been to in terms of scenery. It's absolutely gorgeous. I have been to a lot of onsen in Japan but this one is truly one of my favourites. The pictures are in early may and the sakura were still in bloom. As with other reviews the water isn't that hot sadly. Feels about 34-38c and I prefer mine about 40+ but in the spring warmth it's actually a really pleasant temperature. Also remember to bring your own towel soap etc.

This is a day-trip hot spring in Tobira Onsen, and the bathing fee was 400 yen. There is no soap or shampoo in the bathroom, so you will need to purchase them separately. The hot spring is an alkaline simple spring with a temperature of 41 degrees and a pH of 9.2, and there is an indoor bath and an open-air bath. I thought it would be a circulating bath like most day-trip hot springs, but it was a very nice hot spring with water directly from the source♪

Only 300 yen for a nice indoor and outdoor bath. Great scenery, friendly owner. Best to bring own soap, shampoo and towel as none provided, but available for a small fee. Water a little lukewarm for my taste (I like it hot!)

This spa has an a-ma-zi-ng outside area. It is a fresh water spa, not processed water. Beautiful place to hang around for an hour or so, big recommendation. Might be hard to access without a car though.

Beautiful small onsen in the middle of Naganos mountains. The price is very good, but bring your own towels and shower gel/shampoo.
