The source of natural hot spring

Although it's called a hot spring source, there are no hot springs in Hiroshima, only cold springs, so it's basically just water. What's more, the water that comes out of here is not suitable for drinking, so you can't drink it. Miyahama Onsen was originally opened in 1965, but environmental changes caused the amount of water to decrease, so a new hot spring source was dug here in 1993. The source is 1,400 meters deep, which is incredibly deep. The cylindrical stones scattered around here are apparently rocks that were excavated by drilling. The water is a simple, weakly radioactive cold mineral spring, and the temperature is 22.1°C.

The spring water is cool in the summer and lukewarm in the winter. It's not a place worth going out of your way to see, but this is where the hot spring water is delivered!

It's the kind of place you might visit if you're going to a hot spring, thinking, "So this is the source of the hot spring." Don't go with overly high expectations.

A quiet spot just past the highway overpass from the town, it's a great place for a short stroll.

It is located further up the hill from Sekitei. On a clear day, you can see the Seto Inland Sea.
