Urasoe no Yu

My friend and I were craving onsen during our trip to Naha in July 2025, and were happy to find Urasoenoyu. It is an affordable but very nice local onsen with salt water baths attached to a sports complex. Please note tattoos are not allowed. Both the staff and other patrons were very friendly. The price depends on the day because there are various discounts. We happened to come on a discount day, the 26th, so we only paid 750円 for unlimited time. It is a little difficult to find. Enter into the parking area of the sports complex, then either 1) take the stairs in front of the pool/gym reception and then the elevator to the 3rd floor, or 3) find the stairwell underneath the building and go to the 3rd floor. You must buy your ticket from the vending machine, then give it to the friendly staff in exchange for a towel bag (bath and hand towels) and key bracelet (same number for shoe locker and clothes locker). Lockers are large enough for small hiking bag with glasses shelf and 2 coat hangers. In the summer there are special cooling shampoos and body wash, but only in the standing showers closest to the door. Otherwise it’s the cheap but effective pink-and-green shampoo and body wash combo. There are several baths. Inside there is a large hot bath 38°C and cold bath 22°C so very nice in the summer. I recommend going between the hot and cold baths. There is also a small outdoor hot wooden bath. There is a steam sauna and dry sauna. You must exit the baths by 9:45PM. We had such a nice relaxing time here and I’d love to come back one day.

This Okinawan public bathhouse (super) is located in the heart of town, within walking distance of the monorail station, and boasts ample parking. While it's a multi-story building, its charmingly aged appearance evokes a sense of history. Having opened in 2004, it boasts over 20 years of history—a testament to its enduring presence. Okinawa's climate is generally mild, even in winter, making warm clothing unnecessary. Therefore, Okinawan public bathhouses prioritize the sauna—or rather, the cold plunge pool—over the hot springs. Urasoe no Yu lived up to this expectation, featuring a spacious sauna and cold plunge pool rather than a hot spring bath. It truly is a bathhouse focused on the cold plunge. Many Okinawan public bathhouses, known as "yu-furuya," feature a central "pond" filled with hot water. Following this trend, Urasoe no Yu also had a "pond" for both the hot spring and the cold plunge pool. While the hot spring and cold plunge pool are arranged like a Taijitu symbol, the size of the cold plunge pool is noticeably different from those found in mainland Japan. On this day, I enjoyed two sets of sauna and cold bath, and while in the sauna, local news was playing about Orion Beer being listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange. The facility itself is decades old, nearly half a century old, so it's understandable that it's old, but it's a rare opportunity to enjoy natural hot springs at a reasonable price. The natural hot spring water is a bit brownish, but it doesn't have much of an odor and is very warming. The staff are very friendly, and for this price, you can use the natural hot springs and a large sauna room, so I think it's great! The entrance is separate from Asistas, and you can access it by taking the elevator or stairs to the third floor. The parking lot, like Asistas, is spacious.

It's an old but cheap public bath, with 800 yen for an hour and 1200 yen without time limit. There is a steam sauna, dry sauna, open-air bath, hot spring, cold water bath, and bath. Recommended for those who like retro atmosphere.

Various sites online claim that this sento allows people with tattoos. Even though I just have a couple small ones, I was turned away. Disappointing. This shows the ignorance of the management
