A hot spring town nestled quietly in the mountains. Located in Minamata City, on the border with Kagoshima Prefecture, this hot spring resort has a history of around 700 years. It is said that a crane once healed its wounds here, and it has long been a popular hot spring resort. Inns and drop-in baths line both sides of the river in the surrounding area. Currently, there are five inns and two local baths. Nestled quietly amid the deep greenery, it seems as if time has stood still. This is truly a hidden hot spring in a secluded area. Many of the springs are simple sulfur springs, and these excellent springs were ranked third in the "New 100 Famous Hot Springs of Japan" and in the "Hot Spring General Election 2025." In autumn, the autumn leaves add color to the hot spring town, and a fall foliage festival is held during the season. The best time to see the leaves is mid- to late November.

A retro hot spring town. Yunotsuru Onsen. You can park your car in the parking lot at Hotaru no Yu, so I recommend taking a leisurely stroll from there and exploring. There are also several day-trip hot springs, so it's a good idea to bring some hot spring supplies with you. ◎ If it's your first time, I recommend stopping by Tsuru no Ya, where there are pamphlets available. 🌿 There are also clean restrooms. The stroll should last about an hour at most. I find the aroma of the hot springs, the foot baths scattered throughout, and gazing at the nature and nostalgic scenery very soothing. I love this time.
