Yukyu no Yu Hiraizumi Hot Spring

Bathing fee: ¥500 for adults. Shampoo and body soap are provided. Lockers for valuables are available in the changing room. While the bathroom facilities are somewhat lacking, the facility is mid-sized. There's a spacious, raised tatami-floored rest area, and while there's only one bathtub, it's large and spacious enough for a relaxing soak. The source water temperature is heated to 38°C, resulting in a slightly cloudy, slightly transparent sodium chloride spring. The water has a thick, soft texture, leaving your skin feeling smooth and silky. The sauna is also convenient, but the temperature is set quite low, meaning you barely break a sweat even after 10 minutes in the bath. The sauna room is large enough to fit a maximum of six people. There's also a cold bath, which is just the right temperature. Perhaps because there aren't many affordable bathhouses in the area, it was quite crowded with locals even at 5 p.m. on a weekday.

The hot spring water is alkaline, slightly slippery, and flows directly from the source. The price is ¥500, and JAF members get in for ¥400. There is one large bath (comfortably large enough for about 20 people), and a sauna. It's quite lively, perhaps because it's within walking distance of Chusonji Temple. They apparently share the spring water with the neighboring Onsen Hotel Musashibo, so you can enjoy the same quality of hot spring water at a lower price, making it great value for money. Amenities are available. There are about 20 parking spaces. ・

August 15, 2025 There are parking lots on both sides of the road. Parking lots 2 and 3 are on the opposite side of the facility. As I always say, I came here looking for value for money, but maybe I misunderstood; it was 700 yen for up to three hours. By the way, I was out in less than 30 minutes. I wish there was a one-coin plan, but there isn't. You can even bring a camper van here. Even a modest camper trailer can fit in, so this might be a hidden gem for those types of people.

This is the ultimate local hot spring. I'm happy that the price is only 500 yen after 7pm. It's close to Chusonji Temple and Motsuji Temple, and the baths were great. It's mostly locals, so outsiders might feel a little out of place. The reception staff are unfriendly. Also...I wouldn't recommend this to anyone who has an aversion to tattoos. This is not a "no tattoos" bath.

It's located near Chusonji Temple. It costs 700 yen. There's only one bath, but since it was 5pm on a Monday, it was empty and I was able to soak in it for a while. Next door there's a bath called "Benkei no Yu," and the sign says it has several baths, including an open-air bath, and the entrance fee is slightly cheaper. It's about a 10-minute walk from here to the station.
