We came as a group of two adults and two children. The family bath requires reservations, so you can't bathe without one. There seems to be a large public bath, but reservations aren't required for that. There's a spacious waiting room where you can relax until your reservation time. The waiting room also has picture books for children and a large table. Since we arrived earlier than expected, we asked a staff member and they kindly allowed us in 15 minutes early. They also prepared toys for children in front of the family bath, and diapers are available for purchase for those with babies, which is a great consideration for families. There are also toys and snacks in the shop. We reserved the Hinoki no Yu hot spring for two, which was spacious enough for two adults and two preschoolers. The changing room was equipped with a cooler, sink, hair dryer, towel rack, hangers, shampoo, conditioner, and body soap, all free of charge. The hot spring water is free-flowing from the source, with a faint sulfur scent that leaves your skin feeling silky smooth! The bath itself was filled from the moment I entered the room, so I was able to relax even during my one-hour bath. After my bath, I sat in the guest room and enjoyed shaved ice made with ice from Yanagawa Himuro, a long-established Kagoshima shop that's open until September! It was a very reasonable price of 350 yen! It's worth coming just to eat this shaved ice! The main store of Yanagawa Himuro only offers takeout, so it's quite rare to be able to enjoy it indoors! The ice was neither too hard nor too soft, and had a great texture! I would definitely like to visit again! The staff were also incredibly kind and polite, and were wonderful!

This was my first time here, and as the name suggests, it was a wonderful hot spring where you could relax. There was a hot indoor bath, an open-air bath, and a cold bath. The indoor bath was 38 degrees? Maybe a little more? The open-air bath was said to be 40 degrees, but when you soaked in it, your buttocks got wet (lol), so I think it should be a little lower. There were no amenities, but there were plenty of showers. The changing rooms were also very clean and hygienic. They were heated, so even if the bathroom was hot, you could warm up in the changing room and get changed. There was also a free-flowing hair dryer. This is a free-flowing hot spring near the mountain pass, and the high altitude means the stars are apparently very visible. The autumn leaves are beautiful during the day, but at night, enjoying the open-air bath while gazing at the stars is the best. The admission fee was 460 yen. Cashless payments are accepted. Local vegetables, fruits, souvenirs, and sweets were sold at the reception. It was Christmas when we visited, so Santa Claus and his reindeer welcomed us at the reception. It's a wonderful hot spring.

The indoor bath was warm, but for me, the temperature was just right, and I enjoyed soaking in the slippery water for a long time. The open-air bath was small and lukewarm. They also sold the classic coffee milk and fruit milk, as well as a variety of snacks. The reception building has a tatami room where you can wait for your companion or relax after your bath. I had some trouble with the shower not working, perhaps by chance. The water was very slippery and seemed to be good for the skin, which was nice.

It is a typical alkaline simple spring with low mineral content, very similar to the hot springs in Hakuba. Although it has a pH of 10, the lack of minerals makes it less slippery than Hitoyoshi Onsen. I think it is on the same level as Futsukaichi Onsen in Fukuoka. The slippery texture is mainly due to sodium metasilicate. It is odorless, colorless, and transparent. It is not sticky after bathing, so you will feel refreshed. The source temperature is 42°C, so it seems to be slightly heated.

It's a simple alkaline hot spring with a pH of 9.9, and the water is very thick and viscous. The family bath is the type where the water in the tub is replaced, so everyone gets to bathe first. The fee is 1,500 yen for 60 minutes on weekdays, and 2,000 yen otherwise. Another nice thing is that the parking lot is spacious. The family bath tub is only big enough for 1.5 people, so it's not very big, but it's more than enough.
