Yuyu Onsen (Public Bath)

The place is a good place for onsen goers, the temperature of the water is sufficiently hot and comforting, it has indoor and outdoor baths, saunas and even a cold bath to maximize the onsen experience. Provides a soothing after glow that invigorates customers and definitely a good representation of the onsen Tamatsukuri Onsen provides to its customers. Do note it is abit old, so you might see some wear and tear, but the staff does their best to keep things clean.

A very lovely bath and a great deal (only ¥500). The indoor and outdoor section were both absolutely gorgeously and uniquely designed architecturally and there was a steam room outside and a sauna inside. The only thing I had a problem with was I saw a floating beetle(?) carcass in the outdoor bath but I guess bathing outdoors comes with that kind of issue naturally. I came around noon so I was able to enjoy a nice sunny bath.

The building is far too big, and showing its age. Probably explains the reported financial troubles despite the number of people I've seen there. The baths are quite good, though, and since it's standalone, you don't need to go to a hotel. Not too hot and your skin feels nice afterwards. If you're not staying overnight, I'd consider supporting this place, so an affordable option remains in operation.

Tattoos are OK according to the receptionist (we were here in September 2024)! We didn't get to experience the Onsen because we arrived unprepared and too close to the last entry time (21:20), but we wanted to share this information. Our hotel had led us to believe that tattoos were not ok, but it seems that they were wrong!

Weird building but wonderful onsen. Indoor and outdoor baths plus sauna and steam room. The outdoor bath has massaging waterfalls that feel great on stiff shoulders and back. My favorite onsen in Tamayu.
