Bongil Oncheon Spa Land

I was here and in Dragonhill spa in Seoul to compare. This is completely local thing. Not very posh, and also no English signs. Staff speaks very basic English so communication is possible, but don´t expect long discussions. Entrance fee for the evening was 10000W. I went with my wife. We both got sweat costume at reception, but only she got towel. In the end no problem, as there is plenty of supply of towels in male area. You get number of locker. You leave shoes there, and proceed to the area based on your sex. Now there is naked policy in your area and there are several saunas and thermal mineral baths. This is big advantage as this is really mineral healing water, compared to "normal" water in some other spas. It is possible to buy food and drinks in the separate area, or common where there are more traditional saunas. It is not so big, but it feels calmer than more "posh" spa. Also generally cheaper. It is open 24 hours and you just pay entrance for whole time you stay there. But, what worth knowing is, that there is cleaning time sometime after midnight when mineral pools will be emptied and cleaned plus water massage things are also off. We were there over night and that happened around 1 - 2 a.m.

Bongil Spa Land offers excellent bath place, hot and cold sauna and good place to relax. For 10000 won, you can enjoy their facilities for unlimited hours. At the reception, you are given a short, T-shirt and locker number. Then you go upstairs to men’s room. Look for your locker and put your shoes there. Pls note that for your clothes, there’s another locker, at next room. Once you store your clothes into the locker, you enter the bath house. You must enter naked as underwear and other garments are not allowed. Here, you can immerse yourself into a hot tub, relax and soothe your aching muscles. Once you are done, you take shower and come out. The towels are kept at the entrance to the bath house. Once you have dried yourself, you put on the shirt and T-shirt and then head up 3rd floor for hot and cold sauna. Look for a mat so you can sit or sleep there. Keep a towel there, when you enter the sauna rooms or someone else will take that spot. There are small restaurants if you are hungry.

Explanation for foreigners & first timers: If you're standing in front of the building on the main road, the entrance is on the left side, where the entrance to the supermarket is. You will see the elevator on the left - the stairs are opposite. Go up to the 3rd floor and pay. Men then go down to the locker rooms on the 3rd floor (ladies up to the 4th). There are 6 pools: 20°, 30°, 37 (x two) & 38° (the latter one made out of wood) & 42°. There is also a steam room, a (very) hot sauna and a 35° room. The relaxation area, restaurant and hot and cold rooms are on the third floor. There is a gym but you need to wear shoes in there. Entry fee was krw 12,000. It's not the greatest spa but it's good enough.

It was stated that it is 24 hours but when I went there at 9 pm they said it was too late to do much. I wanted to go for a massage but was told that they close at 11pm and there were no available slots left. Ended up not entering the spa at all. It was a wasted trip for us.

Overall, this Korean sauna was a good experience. The alkaline hot spring water was indeed very comfortable, leaving my skin smooth after soaking. The facilities were quite complete, including sauna rooms and an ice room, but some areas …
