보령 냉풍욕장

Boryeong/Daecheon is known for its beaches, but don't you? Drive out to the surrounding area and you'll find mountains and valleys galore. Coal mining used to be a local industry, but now, the abandoned mines, now a symbol of their former glory, have been transformed into a natural cold-air bathhouse, taking advantage of the cool breeze blowing in from hundreds of meters underground. The distance isn't long, but it's chilly as soon as you step inside, so you won't be able to stay long. Seriously ❄ There used to be only tunnels, but these days, they even have exhibits showcasing local produce and cultivation methods. Outside, they've even created a footbath using cold groundwater. If you're in the area in the summer, it's free, so it's worth a visit. For children, the #BoryeongCoalMuseum is also a great option.

At first, I hesitated whether or not to go. But I'm so glad I did. The Naengpung Bathhouse is incredibly cool, making it a great place to enjoy the natural breeze from the pool during the summer. The space is long enough to run around and explore. Outside, there's a footbath that rivals the Naengpung Bathhouse. It's lovely to see so many mothers putting their children in water diapers and letting them play freely. If you're visiting Boryeong, especially in the summer, this is a great place to stop by for a break. It's free, and the parking lot is spacious.

I visited in late August 2025. It was fascinating to see the strong, cold wind blowing from the cave. The crape myrtle trees planted along the hill leading to the cold spring bathhouse were in full bloom, a sight to behold. I highly recommend this cave to anyone who was disappointed by the crape myrtle trees at the famous mountain temples and old houses.

I stopped by here on my way home from a one-night vacation. It was free and parking was convenient, so I had no trouble visiting, but it was too short, so I was left with some regrets. It was a quiet place. You can stop by if you're nearby, but I don't think it's worth coming from far away.

In this sweltering heat, there's no better place. The chilly wind blowing from the natural cave and the groundwater so cold you'll find it difficult to even immerse your feet for a minute will quickly dry up any dripping sweat. Haha Highly recommended~^^
