Cheongdo Eupseong Fortress

I stopped by because I happened to be passing through and saw an event called the Cheongdo National Heritage Night Tour. The event encouraged visitors to enjoy collecting stamps while touring various parts of Cheongdo Fortress, and once all the stamps were collected, visitors could choose between a mood lamp or a Yutnori craft kit. Also, although there were only a few, there were places to enjoy the night market (simple drinks or bread made with local specialties) and hands-on activities (making mugs, mother-of-pearl keychains, knot ornament keychains, wish lantern bracelets, etc.), making it a space where families with children could enjoy themselves together.

I visited over the weekend. It appears to have been built in a square shape, centered around Cheongdo, and you can leisurely stroll along the fortress walls. Some sections haven't been restored yet, so the original wall hasn't been fully restored. Instead, it's been renovated to resemble a park, centered around the north gate, making for an easy stroll and featuring a café. Parking lots are located on the east and west sides, so park nearby and stroll along the walls for a quiet and leisurely stroll.

I visited this place for a quick look around during the Chuseok holiday. The view is wide open, so it feels incredibly refreshing and liberating. Although it isn't fully completed yet, there are things to see in every corner, and it makes for a decent trekking course. Parking, however, is a bit complicated; even the designated parking lots are crowded. Please keep that in mind.

The neatly organized town fortress was beautiful. It was also nice that the stone icehouse and Hyanggyo were well preserved.

It is a tourist attraction that is crowded with people, even on a Sunday. It is March 21, 2026. …
