I often visit Deoksan-myeon in Yesan-gun, Chungnam, because unlike the city, the sight of people cooking and sharing food with neighbors gives me the feeling of my childhood hometown. The hot spring water is excellent, the hospitality is generous, and the people are kind. Perhaps because there are so many fields, the air is clean, and there is water nearby. It is fascinating to see egrets hunting for food in the deep blue rice paddies, and the breeze coming up the small streams is cool and refreshing. Even though no one planted them, the wildflowers that bloom naturally—whose origins seem to have flown in—are strikingly beautiful. I find myself making eye contact with the wildflowers here and there, having silent conversations with them, smiling happily to myself, taking out my smartphone to take photos, and smelling the scents—all of this allows me to heal, making it a place I visit frequently.

Several hotels and facilities are clustered around the hot spring area. The surrounding Hongseong and Yesan areas are renowned for their loyalty and filial piety, as well as Korean beef. The germanium-rich hot spring water has long been considered excellent for its medicinal properties. I visit this area occasionally. There's also a water park. Namdang-ri, famous for its octopus and shrimp, and Sudeoksa Temple, a renowned Korean temple with nuns, are within thirty minutes, making it a valuable addition to any package.

Deoksan Hot Springs seems to have the best water among all the hot springs in Korea. I used to have a skin condition, but it completely cleared up after visiting here last summer. It would also be a great place for adults to visit...

The staff were friendly. The room was a clean type, so there were no kitchen utensils. There was no rice cooker, just a single pot.

After soaking in a hot spring, stop by the park and take a walk along the trails. The green of spring will refresh your spirit.
