Hanbang Hot Springs
August 2025. A long-time campaign promise by the Yuseong District Mayor to create a fully-equipped footbath accessible to all residents was realized, resulting in this outdoor footbath. First-time visitors may be confused by the directions, but simply turn on the water at the nearby faucet, wash your feet, then move to the footbath area of the appropriate temperature and immerse your feet. Just as you wash your body before entering a swimming pool to maintain hygiene and water quality, this footbath also requires you to wash your feet before entering. However, there are no instructions on how to use this area, so first-time visitors and tourists alike may find it challenging. The water, as expected from a hot spring, is smooth and sweet. After about ten minutes of soaking, my whole body feels warm and my back feels sweaty, demonstrating the benefits of the hot spring water. It seems especially beneficial in winter than in summer. Local residents have advised using the red clay path in the nearby park, which they can walk barefoot on, before returning to the footbath to soak their feet in the hot spring water. The hot spring water is managed by the local government and supplied to nearby hot spring hotels. The foot baths here also undergo regular water changes and maintenance. Being in an area with such hot springs is considered a natural boon. If you're staying at a nearby hotel, I highly recommend visiting and experiencing the area.
It's a great place to soak your feet under a poplar tree, chat, read a book, or just zone out. There are two locations: one near Oncheon Station and one in front of Gyeryong Spatel. It's a place that makes you proud to live in Yuseong.
With COVID-19 social distancing measures lifted and the hot spring festival just around the corner, there's plenty to see and do. I think foot baths are also good for your health. I think this is what it means to be human.
A place where nagging, brawling, drunken, immature, and older people want to be themselves. The facilities are fine. However, they can ruin your mood, so please avoid the types of people I mentioned above.
As a foreigner you will get curious looks from the elderly. They have different hot springs, each of them with different temperatures. Make sure to wash your feet before and after using.

Make a day of it — a quick-dry towel, dry bag, and post-soak layers take almost no pack space.
