Namhae Bridge

A famous bridge featured even in textbooks. A bridge that was once more famous than Namhae itself. Tour buses would always be parked in front of it, and people used to take group photos there. Back then, it looked truly magnificent and beautiful. Thinking back to those days, I took a picture in front of the bridge. Construction began in 1968. That was a whopping 58 years ago. While bridge descriptions are likely written on computers these days, the Namhae Bridge sign is unmistakably handwritten. That handwriting feels so warm and comforting.

Namhae Bridge, the first suspension bridge in Korea, connects Namhae-gun and Hadong-gun in Gyeongsangnam-do. It opened in 1973 and is a symbol of modernization and has been called the Golden Gate Bridge of Korea. Although vehicle traffic has decreased since the opening of Noryang Bridge, attempts are being made to commercialize new tourism products such as climbing the main tower and bridge climbing due to its historical significance and beauty.

Korea's first... If you're curious, come and see for yourself! Naemhae-gak has a story to tell! They're currently preparing a project to revamp the landscape lighting and turn Namhae Bridge into a tourist attraction! I can't wait to see it completed!

It looks modest by today's standards, but it is fascinating to hear that it was the first suspension bridge in the country in the past. The harmony between the red bridge and the blue sea is magnificent.

This is the gateway to the South Sea. A leisurely drive while taking in the surrounding ocean scenery is a delight. It's a stunning bridge, reminiscent of the Golden Gate Bridge in the United States.
