Today we visited the Big Buddha of Seoraksan in Sokcho. This is the head temple of Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism. After visiting the temple me and Ajahn went for 4km, 3hr hiking to reach top of the mountain. The most challenging experience but worth it. May the Dhamma flo
I did the hike to the top of Ulsanbawi. It seems like a short distance, but there is enough scrambling and climbing to take about 3.5 hours for the round trip (with the necessary photo stops, of course). The view at the top is definitely worth it.
Visited on a rainy day during the transition from winter to spring, and the scenery felt calm and almost magical with mist covering the mountains and patches of melting snow along the trails. …
Very disappointing because nearly all of the hiking trails are closed until 15th May. We only found out when we arrived in Sokcho. There is little information about the closures.
They didn't let us go all the way up because it was fire season, but wherever they did go was really beautiful.
