Founded in 2008, the #DaejeonHahoeByeolsigutMalNori Society promotes #HahoeByeolsingutMalNori, Important Intangible Cultural Property No. 69, to Daejeon citizens, making traditional mask dances more accessible and creating a rich and engaging platform for everyone. By preserving our precious cultural heritage and sharing the value of our own culture with a wider audience, we aim to share the playful world of Madangpan, where satire and humor blend, and the profound wisdom and philosophy of our ancestors. Danshimjulnori #Danshimjulnori, a unique Korean traditional game, is a family-friendly game, played to the accompaniment of traditional music, pungmul. It involves villagers pulling together a rope, coiling it, and releasing it. It fosters cooperation and unity in a joyful community. It's also a play that gathers bad energy from a single string and sends it flying into the sky, wishing people good fortune for the year ahead. -Performance pamphlet attached-
Yuseong Hot Springs Park is a symbolic rest area in Yuseong-gu, Daejeon, and epitomizes the city's identity as a hot spring city. With its wide walking paths and well-maintained footbath area, it's beloved by both locals and travelers. The atmosphere changes with the seasons, and at night, the lights add an even more relaxing atmosphere. More of a retreat than a tourist destination, it's a perfect place to experience Daejeon's laid-back rhythm. The surrounding area also boasts numerous cafes and restaurants, making it convenient for a stroll.
There is spring flower festival held here from May 3rd to May 26th 2024. And especially this weekend 10th to 12th May, there is a special stage and many booths for kids to get various experiences (not free) like making key rings, etc. So crowded that it is quite difficult to park. I spent almost 20 mins going round and round till I found a place to park, just along the street. The staffs are not friendly. Too rude!
Yuseong held its first cultural festival. The military band's parade was spectacular. The fireworks display at night was also spectacular. The food and activities offered at various booths were spectacular. The diverse flower displays were splendid.
A beautifully landscaped park near my accommodation. The Yuseong Spring Flower Exhibition was taking place, so I took a stroll at night to enjoy the view. There's also a hot spring area, so it's a great place to relax and soak your feet.
