What we collect and why.
SoakNation is operated by QuiltMap (5900 Balcones Drive STE 100, Austin, TX 78731). This page explains what data the site collects, how we use it, and how you can opt out. It applies to soaknation.com and any subdomains.
What we collect
Anonymous analytics via Google Analytics 4: pages visited, country, device type, referring site, time on page, and similar non-identifying behavioral data. Google may set cookies named_ga and _ga_* for ~13 months to count returning visits. We do not link this data to your identity.
Server logs: standard web access logs (IP address, user agent, requested URL, timestamp) are processed by Cloudflare, the site's host, for security and abuse prevention. Retention follows Cloudflare's standard policy.
What we do NOT collect: account details (we have no sign-in), email addresses (no newsletter yet), payment data (no commerce), precise location, or your route on the map page. We don't sell, rent, or share data with third parties beyond the analytics processor described above.
Cookies
We use two categories of cookies:
- Strictly necessary: a small cookie that records your cookie-consent choice itself, so we don't ask repeatedly.
- Analytics: Google Analytics 4's
_gaand_ga_*. These load only after you accept analytics in the consent banner.
You can withdraw consent at any time by clearing site data in your browser, or by clicking the cookie settings link in the footer (when that becomes available).
Affiliate links
Some outbound links on detail pages (lodging, gear, rental cars) are affiliate links. If you click and buy, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. See our disclosure page for the full list. Affiliate networks may set their own cookies on the destination site; that's their privacy policy, not ours.
Your rights (GDPR / CCPA)
Because we don't collect personal data tied to your identity, there's typically nothing to export or delete on our side. The analytics data is anonymous to us; for Google's data-deletion process seeGoogle's Analytics privacy controls. You can opt out of GA tracking entirely with theofficial Google opt-out browser add-on.
Children
The site is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
