What a magical place! I am so glad we found this. Most of the drive from Nome is good on well maintained unpaved roads, but the last mile and a half before you reach the springs is pretty rough terrain. A sedan wouldn't make it, but a good 4x4 SUV or pickup is fine as long as you take the last mile or so very, very slowly and carefully. The springs are SO peaceful and in truly incredible surroundings. And we want to thank the caretaker Matthew. He showed us around the old orphanage property and we loved his knowledge and enthusiasm. There's also some cool merch on site, like tee shirts and hoodies, but bring cash, because you can't use a card and there's no cell service. Thank you Pilgrim Hot Springs!

Relax in a piping hot geothermal pool and soothe those tired muscles and weary bones at Pilgrim Hot Springs. Overnight cabins are available. The water can be warm to very hot depending on where you are in the pool. The historic Our Lady of Lourdes Orphanage and a cemetery is on the property as well. It's recommended to pre-purchase admission online before arriving. Only cash is accepted on-site and there is no internet. It's a must stop when exploring the Bering Peninsula and Nome region of Alaska.

The experience was fantastic. The road into there is terribly rough, however it was picture perfect. I wouldn't drive car. We took a side by side and it was perfect
