Coalinga Mineral Springs National Recreation Trail
The views from on top of Kreyenhagen Peak are amazing! Round trip is 4.6 miles with an easy elevation gain of 1400 feet. The trail has been recently refurbished with new trail markers, widening and debris cleared on the trail from the recent Coalinga Mineral Springs Fire. It was easy to stay on trail! When your at the Peak , do a shout out for yourself for being on Top! 👍🏻 Then breathe in the views and listen to how loud the silence is! 👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 In addition, Hwy 198 is an added bonus! Turn your favorite tunes on and enjoy your ride!! Regards, S
A fine 2+ hr hike on a well-marked safe trail to a great view. In a few places the trail has short branches to scenic spots, but you won't get lost here. I saw zero wildlife on a sunny February afternoon, but the geology and greenery are lovely. The place looks abandoned when you come in, just a muddy road to a muddy parking area with a dilapidated Information board with no information, but then oh there's a trail marker! It was too muddy to camp comfortably at the bottom, but the trail was not muddy or slippery.
Lots of wildflowers this time of year March. The fire did devaste most of the pines oaks and junipers, nice trail nevertheless and easy to follow. Peaceful the whole way only saw two other groups. Lots of sun exposure definitely take a hat and sunscreen. 5 mi round trip to the peak.
Had the place to myself. Not updated at all, so not for the faint hearted. It's a 5 mile hike to the top and back what a view it is. Great place to enjoy some silence and boy do I mean silent. Don't miss the opportunity to go.
This place was not worth my time no wild life of any kind to enjoy watching or taking pictures , an overgrown abandoned camp, a couple of houses, restrooms. I would not recommend to anyone looking to have fun or adventure.
