Spruce Creek Park

Beautiful weather. Sadly, the tide was way out so the view from the pier was not as nice as usual. My family took a lovely hike they enjoyed while I sat and enjoyed the weather. Definitely recommend checking this place with active people. This isn't a playground so it's a beautiful chance to see and explore with your kids. My only request would be to please, don't throw your trash on the ground. If you can't find a garbage can, hold on to it and throw it out later. Not only is it bad for the environment, it really makes the beauty of nature not so beautiful to see fishing lines, soda cups, plastic bags, and even an old basket of sorts.

I really like this place. They have a pavilion with a bathroom right by the playground. Convenient for little ones. The playground is very small though. There's a fishing dock and a small area for kayaks. They have a campground, but it is for special interest groups only. My favorite part is the trail. There is an observation tower with a beautiful view. The trail does lead to a dead end or water if the tide is in or it's been raining a lot. It isn't exactly a dead end, but the trail itself ends in a semi wooded area. Along the trail are picnic tables and one porta potty... that is always being moved around.

Well groomed trails and pet friendly! Only thing that makes this place lose a star is the lack of accessibility with horses even though there's a sign that says HORSES! Whoever is managing Doris Leeper parks here must be playing shell games with Dorus Leeper funds by not giving full access to the park from this side. Sneaky and unethical considering Doris was a huge equine advocate...

Great little launch for canoes and kayaks, though it can dry up during low tide. There is plenty of shade for hot days. Great trails and wildlife, nice playground for kids and generally clean bathrooms. There are some areas to grill and a tall tower just a short walk through the park to really enjoy some beautiful views. Many really neat bird species like to make appearances here.

Great to walk around and see the life. Since we went after Nicole, it was still a bit muddy and the forest area had lots of bare spots. Very sad that the park/camping ground is not super taken care of, but still beautiful nonetheless. Great views, best to go near 3 when it's cooler out.
