Green Canyon Hot Springs and Resort

Hidden Gem of the locals, this is an amazing local swimming hole. It’s a little off the beaten path; so if you go, turn off at the sign and keep driving, no no keep going, when you think you are lost, you will see it. Large indoor heated pool, with natural hot springs pool outside, one of the few natural hot springs with no sulfur smell; Amazing to be in out under the stars. All about that polar plunge? They have a small pool that is around 50 degrees, you can test your cold water endurance in :-) Prices are about $10 a person for swimming. They offer a snack bar with burgers, dogs, pop, ice cream; stuff of that nature as well as a camp ground area, as well indoor and outdoor picnic areas. They allow for outside food so if ya wanna bring some food and enjoy a day, you can todo that. Only place i’ve ever know where you can camp there and do swimming lessons in under a week as well. Small family operation, that strives to keep costs down, so it’s not fancy by any means, but that adds to the charm. Like i said a small local hidden gem that’s pretty much a right of passage when moving here, or coming to the area for school.

A fantastic work environment, amazing management, great location. Yeah, the building is old but we maintain it well and make renovations yearly. Last summer alone we tore out the lobby walls and put bright new ones up, resurfaced the pool floor, repainted the hot tub area and the hot tub itself, got new curtains, made new tables, got new changing room mats, and more. All in one summer. As for us staff, we're great of course. We put a lot of effort into our swim lesson plans, and are always open to input from the parents. For people who weren't able to get in (because it's always booked a year in advance) most of the teachers will do lessons privately. I would recommend myself 😇, I'm Logan. In terms of our lifeguarding, we are all red cross certified in Lifeguarding, Emergency Oxygen, and WSI.

Green Canyon Hot Springs is a family establishment! If you're looking for a quiet experience, you should hike at least 2miles to get to it, haha. The hot spring is actually pumped to two pools. The big pool is pretty mild, like nice bath water. The smaller pool which is still kinda big as far as hot springs go, is the "hot" pool. As they state on the website, there's no sulfur smell which is pretty unique and very pleasant. The hot pool is outside, still enclosed but no roof, just a little bit of breathable shade material going overhead. Very fun experience if you treat it for what it is, a place to camp with your family and also enjoy a pool and hot spring with other campers/day-trippers.

They have group discounts. The hours are extended during holidays and they aren’t accurate on the answering machine sometimes. Not enough changing stalls. Need more big hooks to hang bags on inside and outside stalls so you can hang your bags up while going to the bathroom while waiting for a stall or while showering. Plants next to pool had dirt on the floor from them we stepped in. Need to have a 5 minute time limit on cold pool so people don’t have to wait so long to use it. Spider webs on light fixtures. Needs to be repainted outside. Changing stalls need more modest curtains for privacy, there are still gaps.

The hours of operation kinda suck but its a fun atmosphere. Its kinda old but its the character that makes this place what it is. Most people in idaho falls have never even heard of this place. I think they should have better .... Or maybe just any advertising so more can enjoy what this place has to offer..
