Moki Sauna South Boston

Filthy, murky cold-plunge pools; thick sludge on the cold-plunge steps; and large puddles of stagnant, dirty water on the floors in both the warehouse and the bathrooms. The music was far too loud, making it impossible to relax, especially when the playlist occasionally turned frenzied — not a word that should ever describe a spa experience. The advertising photos were also somewhat misleading: there is only one outdoor sauna; the other two are located inside the warehouse. The bathroom floor is incredibly slick. I slipped, and only later noticed a tiny sign at floor level warning about slippery conditions. They really need to add an anti-slip finish. There is no indoor or outdoor fire feature to comfortably relax by between sauna/cold-plunge sessions, although this may be due to zoning limitations. If gas or wood-burning fires aren’t permitted, a plug-in electric radiator would be a welcome alternative. I did really appreciate that there are toilets, showers (and soap), lockers, and changing stalls on-site, as well as sandals and towels included with each pass. With better maintenance, more comfortable seating in the relaxation areas (the wire chairs were uncomfortable), and heated relaxaing area, this could be a cool spot. Since there are so many saunas, it would be wonderful to designate one of the three as a silent space with no talking and no music. I certainly didn’t enjoy listening to other guests discuss work at normal conversation volume while I was trying to escape the stress of my own work at a spa.
I love Moki! Such a welcoming and special place. I was initially apprehensive about the social aspect but I have had lovely conversations with interesting people at every visit. It’s also totally possible to keep to yourself, but I’ve been pleasantly surprised at how much the social connection enhances the experience for me. The South Boston location has a great indoor/outdoor setup. There are two indoor saunas and one outdoors, each with a different vibe, but all nice and hot. There are three cold plunges, two outdoors and one indoors. I really appreciate the indoor cold plunge, which is plenty cold but not quiiiite as icy as the outdoor ones. Lots of little cozy spots with chairs and tables to rest between sessions as well. Staff are lovely, helpful, and friendly. Honestly I can’t say enough good things about this place! Try it, you won’t regret it!
Moki is like nothing else in the Boston wellness and social ecosystem. The set up is cozy, relaxing, and peaceful with good music and aesthetic. The saunas are clean, hot, and offer variety of intensity and size/sat up. The ability to move between saunas and cold plunges and use the space to make your own experience is great alone or with a friend. This is a significantly elevated experience compared to using your gym’s sauna, and I left each visit so relaxed I could fall asleep. Big comfy towels and sandals provided and clean changing and shower areas. Kara was welcoming, attentive and knowledgeable and a perfect guide if you’re new to sauna/plunge therapy. This is a perfect spot if you’re seeking a reset day or a chance to share space with someone outside of a bar or restaurant setting. I love Moki.
Moki was wonderful! We went on a Thursday night and made a reservation just half an hour beforehand. It was fairly empty, which was lovely, we basically had the space to ourselves. Everything was clean and well maintained. Towels and sandals were provided, so all you really need to bring is a water bottle and swimsuit. The sauna followed by the cold plunge was amazing, relaxing for both skin and muscles, and the calming music made the whole experience feel very peaceful. I’ll definitely be back. A couple of small suggestions: having body oil or moisturizer would be nice since the sauna can dry out your skin, and clearer instructions would help (for example, I can’t see without my glasses, so I brought them into the sauna and the frame expanded a bit from the heat). Overall, a great experience. 5/5!
I had an incredible experience at Moki Sauna in South Boston. I attended a yoga class followed by the sauna and cold plunge, and it was truly next-level. The cold plunge alone was amazing—for the first time in a long while, I had zero body pain afterward. Combined with the sauna, it left me feeling completely reset. The space is welcoming, well run, and thoughtfully designed, and Mark is clearly passionate about what he’s creating. It’s more than just a sauna—it’s a wellness experience. I enjoyed it so much that I immediately signed up for another yoga class. Highly recommend to anyone looking to feel better in their body and mind. I’ll definitely be back.
