Heritage Park

This place is truly idyllic, possibly one of my favorite spots on earth. Dogs aren’t permitted here, and for good reason: it protects the wildlife that calls this park home. Allowing pets could disturb or endanger the animals, and the same logic applies to the ban on bicycles. The landscape simply isn’t suited for that kind of activity, and these rules help preserve the park’s quiet harmony. After reading some of the selfish complaints, it’s clear that many people forget this simple truth: we are visitors, but the deer and other wildlife live here. The balance of nature is delicate, and it must be safeguarded. Please, when you come to this park, remember that it isn’t all about you. These rules exist for a purpose. Respect the habitat, respect the animals, and respect nature. This park is a wonderful place to host a small outdoor gathering, enjoy a peaceful walk along its calming trails, or simply soak in the beauty of its scenery. Nature is for everyone.

One of the nicer parks in the Metro-Detroit area. The trails are well marked & maintained, and they wind through forests and prairie areas along the upper branch of the Rouge River. The sledding hill is great for kids in the winter, and the splash-pad and playground areas are fun for younger kids in the summer. There are lots of picnic areas with grills available as well. And don't forget about the Nature Center! Lots to do here!

Loved the overall experience. It has good amount of trails to explore. We can spend a whole day in the park exploring all the trails. You can take the longer routes if you have the time and shorter trails if you are with kids and want them to experience the trail experiences. It is a nice place to spend the day with kids as a picnic.I happen to see multiple deer sightings right along the trail side.

This park was so much fun! So many trails and areas to sit and have lunch or explore. Lots of playground areas. You will definitely get a good work out in by walking the trails. The restrooms were clean. The nature center is a awesome addition to the park. I can't wait to come back in the colder months to go sledding.

Such a beautiful park with lovely colors of fall. Restrooms were open and clean. Kids play area and playground has a lot of options so kids can enjoy it. The picnic area was good too for the families to enjoy and have food. Dogs are allowed but need to be on a leash.
