Onsen Spa & Salon
Onsen Nail Salon & Spa inside Bally’s Hotel in Lake Tahoe gave me the worst manicure of my life. I’m honestly shocked this place operates inside a hotel. The technician cut around my nails so aggressively that my fingers started bleeding. Blood was visible, and yet she did absolutely nothing to sanitize the wounds—no alcohol, no disinfectant, nothing. That’s not just bad service, that’s unsafe and unhygienic. As if the pain and bleeding weren’t enough, the manicure itself was a complete joke. The nail polish started coming off the very next day. After all that damage, it didn’t even last 24 hours. Onsen Nail Salon at Bally’s Lake Tahoe seriously needs to address their sanitation practices and staff training. This experience was unacceptable, and I would strongly recommend avoiding this place altogether. I should add that they charged me $66 for this terrible service.
Had the best facial with Socorro! This is my second time getting a facial here and my face feels lovely! The spa area has a steam room, jacuzzi, sauna, showers, sitting area, blowdriers, razors, deodorant it has it all! But really these facials leave me glowwwwiinnngggg. The day after my facial, there was an extremely noticeable difference, when I put my makeup on it felt like I had no pores! By the weekend I actually chose to go makeup less when I went out. Because of that, I had to come back! Socorro took a good look at my skin and really focused on my trouble spots rather than just going through the motions of a facial. Shes super sweet and adorable too!
Ryan and Rochelle did an amazing job! The front desk rep had my fiancé and I confused with questions she would ask, or the unexpected 20% fee I wasn’t told about until she tried to charge me upon checkout from the massage and we were hotel guests, which didn’t seem to make a difference. The massage room and waiting room were nice. I wish I could say the same for the rest of the place. The pool/ hot tub smelt like mildew. The jacuzzi in the women’s and men’s rooms were out of service. The hotel needs updating in general. I don’t think a couples massage should be over $500 for this quality.
We made reservations months in advance which for some reason were lost? Staff was unprofessional, a simple, "we'll be right with you" would've sufficed. We had to show them the emails we had to prove our reservation, and while the manager tried to make it up to us by running and grabbing a masseuse on her way out— that was just the problem. The masseuse was obviously rushing and asked that we make the massages shorter. Terrible experience. Will never recommend or return.
This is one of my favorite places in South Lake Tahoe/Stateline Nevada. The ambiance is peaceful and relaxing. The pool, jacuzzi and sauna are huge. The fitness center is great. They also have a private jacuzzi in the men’s locker room. Most importantly it is clean and the staff are friendly. Will always come here and bring friends!
