Jemez Hot Springs

Update: 12/28/2025 We came up for the end of the holiday weekend and we’re here earlier than we usually are but had to wait for an hour for our soaking time because they were at capacity. This happens occasionally so we were fine and the lady at the desk was nice enough to give us 1.5 hours 3:30-5. We walked around the town and showed up as instructed for our soaking time. There was a new male employee we haven’t ever met before at the desk when we showed up. We ordered 2 cafe mochas and went to soak. They brought them out and unfortunately one was good and warm and the other was a cold watered down hot chocolate. My partner when to ask if they could correct the mistake and they told him the coffee maker broke right after the first one. Oh well it’s nobody’s fault. If this was my business I would’ve given the $5 bucks back but hey I’m not in charge that’s just the customer service in me. We had a very nice soak time despite the crowd and close the 5 the new guy walked out and promptly declared it was time to get out… We have been there through close before and usually they come give us at 10-15 minute warning to avoid lines at the bathrooms and changing areas. Not this time, we all were herded out and froze our butts off waiting for a spot to change and it was outside when we could. Unpleasant after being in the hot springs to say the least. Then listening to another couple complaining to the guy that they were told (by him) that they could stay until 5:10 because they came at 3:10 and paid for 2 hours. He said no they had to leave. Very unprofessional in my opinion to present that unrealistic expectation. I am not changing my stars based on this one experience and we will continue to come regularly because we love this spot. Just unfortunate to pay almost $100 and drive over an hour to have things like this happen. But the water and ambiance were pleasant and relaxing as usual and that’s why we come. —————End update——— Although we have never stayed overnight here at Jemez Hot Springs, we have been coming to soak for 2 hours on a regular basis for years. The atmosphere is beyond compare, the water is always so nice and the staff is great! Especially the manager who knows us well now 😂 We love the smoothies and we bring water bottles and a light snack like protein bar or banana or something. The views are gorgeous and I love to hear the sound of the river running right behind the pools. This most recent time we got to be in a light rain until about the end of our soak it started to pour! It was magical… The pricing is reasonable compared to like experiences available at a farther drive for us. We come here more often because it’s only an hour and a half away and we can come in the afternoon and stay to eat dinner at the local diner. Makes for a nice date day after sleeping in on a day off. I will say my one peeve is some of the people who attend seem to be completely disrespectful of the signs that are literally EVERYWHERE saying “please whisper” or “keep voices low” and it often makes causes us to move pools because we came to relax not listen to you talk about politics or religion 🙄 However that’s not enough to deter us from visiting often 😊

Pure relaxation in a magical mountain setting Jemez Hot Springs is an absolute slice of heaven tucked away in the mountains of New Mexico. The natural scenery alone makes the drive worth it — peaceful forests, red rock cliffs, and fresh mountain air surround you the moment you arrive. The soaking pools are perfectly warm, incredibly relaxing, and beautifully maintained. Each pool feels private and serene, making it easy to completely unplug and unwind. The mineral water leaves your skin feeling soft and refreshed, and the quiet atmosphere adds to the whole experience! Highly recommend — a must-do New Mexico hidden gem! This was my first time visiting a hot spring, and I will say that it was very relaxing! Paid for a 1 hour session, and that was plenty. They had several pools of different sizes and I bounced from pool to pool just to say I tried them all. My favorite one was the one with the mermaids; its larger size kept it's temperature a bit more constant for long term soaking (>10 min). The smaller ones got unbearable soon after the hot water inflow turned on. It was great! And the fruit smoothies we had afterwards were delicious! I may not get around to returning to this corner of the world again, but this place opened my eyes to a very enjoyable experience that I may repeat elsewhere sometime soon!

I've driven past this location multiple times and never stopped. It is so much more beautiful than I expected. They have multiple pools and seating areas. You can even get a smoothie to enjoy while you soak. I really appreciated that they had changing rooms, bathrooms, and a place to shower. I did not stay overnight, just visited for 2 hours. I will be back! I visited on Memorial Day, and there was plenty of parking.

We have gone here twice and had wonderful experiences. Both times we brought our adult kids who were visiting from out of state. The pools are therapeutic and so relaxing. This upcoming weekend 1-10-26 is forecast to be 39 degrees and we are determined to go relax some more. We’ve also decided to go once a month because it’s so awesome. ✌️
