Orenda Spring

Orenda Spring is located in the woods just to the right of the SPAC ticket entrance. Pull into the SPAC parking lot on RT 50 and head to the treeline. There is an unmarked footpath leading back fifty feet or so to the spring, which is just a stone hut with a wooden roof and a spout where the mineral water gushes out into a drain. The drain, through a pipe, empties into the ravine above Geyser Creek. If you go to the fence and peek over, you can see the Orenda tufa deposits on the edge of the creek. Orenda Spring water is powerful stuff and many are turned away by the equally powerful smell. Fortunately, the flavor of the water is not the same as the smell. The water is cold, high in minerals, and very carbonated. Besides Hathorn #3, this spring water is about as strong as they come so, if you can handle Orenda, you can handle any mineral spring water Saratoga has to offer! Beware if you're watching your salt intake as this spring is also high in chlorides. If you enjoy the stronger mineral springs, then you will love Orenda!

Excellent!! Miss Rosie (my catahoula leopard dog) and I got to meet a couple park rangers who we shared warm companionship at their hut during a sunny, yet rather cold day. The rangers were very informative of current activities, the trails, wildlife in the area and much more! We went on to enjoy the beautiful grounds for a winter hike. We recommend to stay on a 6 foot lesh and bundle up as the trees harbor the cold even on sunny days. 👍👍

My wife and I have been to Saratoga several times and never went to an actual spring. We looked up spring close to 87 and found Orenda Spring. We paid the $10 park fee and followed directions to the spring. Orenda is fresh water feed, and about 20 yards across the street was the Polaris spring. Polaris is a mineral spring that has a distinctive taste. You can drink from both locations. We thanked Mother Earth on our visit.

I love Saratoga State Park and the Springs are wonderful to drink from. (very minerally!!) Saratoga is known for the medicinal value of the springs - and at one time, people were sent here from all over the world for the healing qualities. Today, you will see people - locals mostly - filling gallon jugs to bring home. Saratoga is full of history and the springs are a very important part of that.

People take free spring water from here it’s nice place to visit dogs are allowed you can walk around. I liked this place no tickets you can enjoy nature and take some good pictures.
