Ottine Mineral Springs

Very serene. We enjoyed soaking in the warmer mineral pools most of the morning. I took all of my pictures and video early so it appears we were there alone. We were not but early ut was spaced out enough to feel more private. We avoided the larger pool as it was a bit cool in January. We really wanted to partake in the 104 degree pool but there were 7 people in it for over an hour. That one is a very small pool and two more people would have really over crowded it, making it uncomfortable for everyone. They are in the process of expansion and I'd love to go back once that is completed. The dressing rooms are clean (open air) and offer private areas to change in and out of bathing suits as well as complimentary lockers and restrooms. There are watering stations throughout the pool areas, hangers for robes (I'd suggest bringing your own for added comfort), fire pits, seating and areas to enjoy food from the delicious café. There were several spa services (massage), classes (yoga/ sound bath) to add to your experience as well. Staff was plentiful but blended right in, scurrying around doing their jobs but quietly doing so in such a manner that you never really saw them.
We came to Ottine after hearing great things from our friends. It’s in a quiet location a little over an hour south from Austin. Upon arrival parking was easy to navigate (there’s handicapped accessible parking down the hill from the main parking). Then a leisurely walk down a slight hill, or use the natural stairs. Entrance is seamless and the staff are very friendly and welcoming, if it’s your first time, as it was ours they will walk you around and help you navigate. There’s plenty of places to, lounge, relax in chairs, chaises, Adirondacks, etc. Free lockers are available. The mineral waters were perfect with 3 main areas at different temperatures. A hot/cold plunge area, and a sauna. The food and drinks were excellent and a good variety. We look forward to returning when lodging becomes available, would love to soak at sunset or sunrise. Suggest a mid-week outing, as it is less crowded and more relaxed. The photos I took intentionally left out the pools/water, I wanted to disconnect as much as possible, and not takeaway from anyone else’s experiences.
I'm here now, on a Sunday, and I have to say despite the grounds being beautiful, the mineral pools being the perfect temp, and the staff being very polite, many guests are treating this place as a pool to socialize and drink alcohol at rather than treating it like the relaxing spa experience that it is marketed as. I came here to relax, and am having trouble reading my book over the noise. [Update] The weekend morning crowd cleared out at 2pm and the energy has become much more quiet and serene. My advice is to just try and come enjoy this beautiful place during a less busy time, and keep in mind that management doesn't appear to enforce the "speak softly" rule that they mention on the website.
ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!! The water is so therapeutic and feels so good on your skin. I slept like a I've never slept before after my time there. The facility is so carefully thought out for everyone to relax. I like you have to have a reservation so it's not too crowded. The brick oven pizza made a fabulous pizza. (I was surprised they had glute- free pizza and it was the best I've every had!!) The margarita....you just need to try one or two!! The staff was super! We travel all over the world constantly and go to every thermal spring anywhere we go. I can't believe this amazing thermal springs is right here in San Antonio's backyard!! We already have another visit booked!!
Ottine was a nice relaxing experience. I love trying out hot springs, and this one did not disappoint. I visited on a Friday afternoon and left about an hour before they closed. It was a nice time to go since most people were leaving about the time I got settled in. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The food was amazing, the bruschetta was refreshing. My only complaint was that they didn’t have showers where you could clean up after your soak. The only showers available are like you would find at a beach. I think they are doing some construction and adding proper showers though. I will definitely return to Ottine Mineral Springs.
