Warm Springs Pools

A special, rejuvenating experience, although would recommend going at a less busy time of day or be prepared to share the pool with up to 40 people. Booked a 50min timeslot online for the 2pm coed session on a Saturday. It was recommended to arrive 15min ahead to register. Turns out this was a peak time, and there were ~40 people in the session. The gravel parking lot was filled up, so people were parking along the edge of the road. There was a line coming out of the reception house. The staff were courteous but it was apparent they were overwhelmed with the influx of people. After registering and signing a liability waiver, we gathered back outside around the gazebo for an orientation. Our guide listed the natural minerals occurring in the warm spring, which smelled faintly of sulphur. Keeping quiet/silent is required when in the pool. There are no showers and it was recommended to not immediately wash off, so the minerals could better absorb into the body. We then walked single file into the larger Ladies' Bath structure. Each of us was given a towel and we entered into an available changing room which lined the circular pool. The curtain over the doorway doesn't completely slide all the way so you feel a little exposed changing. It was November so the air was quite cold, especially after getting out 🥶. The pool was nice, definitely warm (according to online its ~98°F) but not hot springs temp. The depth was about 6', and there were pool noodles available to float with. With 40 people, there was just enough room for each person to have their own little space without moving around too much. The guide announced when we had 10 min left, so people could start exiting the pool and changing back into their clothes. Felt a bit rushed but nevertheless left feeling refreshed, in a good mood, and peckish. I somehow ended up forgetting my winter jacket and watch. Thankfully, their staff was able to hold onto it for me and they have a robust lost and found service with the Omni hotel. If you're reading this, appreciate you guys 🙏

The buildings themselves are full of character—old, historic, and beautifully preserved with an original feel that makes the entire visit feel special. The price is fair for the experience, and overall I left feeling relaxed and refreshed. The soak itself was wonderful. They provide pool noodles to help you float comfortably, and the towels smelled amazing and were incredibly soft. It’s definitely a “reset” type of activity, especially on a colder day. Just be prepared—if you visit during the cooler months, getting out and changing back into your clothes is freezing. I went in early November and was shivering the moment I stepped out of the water. My biggest disappointment was that we did not get the full 50-minute soak that we paid for. Because the check-in area was so busy, we lost a chunk of our reserved time. When guests are required to book a specific time slot and pay in advance, I would expect staffing to be prepared for the number of people arriving. It felt unfair to start late when we paid for the full experience. Something that would elevate the visit even more would be incorporating more of the history. I found myself wanting to know when it was discovered, how it was originally used, who built it, the historical significance, and what renovations have been done. The property is overflowing with history, and sharing that story would make the experience even richer. Overall, it was a very cool and relaxing visit, and I’m glad we went. With a bit more efficiency at check-in and a deeper emphasis on the history, this would be an absolutely unforgettable experience.

I was extremely disappointed with this most recent visit, especially compared to my experiences before the renovation; which took more than two years to complete. They now require reservations even for walk-in guests. That would make sense if demand exceeded capacity, but that didn’t appear to be the case. Appointments are scheduled by the hour rather than by actual arrival time, which significantly reduced our experience. What we expected to be a 50-minute soak was cut down to 35 minutes, and we weren’t informed of this until we received a 10-minute warning. At a $40 price point(holiday weekday price), this experience simply wasn’t worth the cost. Additionally, the “18+ men only swim” should be adjusted to “21 and over.” The three guests who appeared to be barely 18 did not seem to understand or respect the etiquette of the springs. Overall, the spring itself was enjoyable, and while the building remains just as drafty as I remember, the updated and warmer bathroom was a nice improvement.

40 degrees outside when we visited on December 31st. Yes, it was cold to get undressed and dressed. The spring water is warm. 98.7 degrees is sufficient. They provide noodles just in case you cant reach the bottom. I am 5'2 and I was able to walk around with no problem. **Reccommendation: Ask for TWO towels when they hand you a towel, so you can put one on the floor while getting dressed. Make sure to bring a hair tie if you submerge your hair in the water. **They do have plastic bags to put your wet clothes in. This is located to the left upon leaving the exit door. We booked at the Omni Homestead (5 miles away) for the non-resort co-ed. We paid at the warm Springs pool.

The minerals are healing to soak in and drink. A very calming experience. The locals who take care of the place are so nice. When I got out I wanted to hug the man who cared for us. We visited the Homestead afterwards for tea and cookies. Next time I’d like to ride from Monticello to Warm Springs on horseback like Thomas Jefferson did. In some ways I want it to be a secret because I don’t want too many people but if you need natural healing this is a good place.
