5 stars for Isaac 3 stars for overall quality and experience of facilities from member point of view I have a membership with Yuan Spa and have visited both the Totem Lake and Bellevue locations several times. While Totem Lake is nice, I generally prefer the Bellevue location because it’s closer to my home and I actually like the hydrotherapy area better. The steam room and sauna have a nicer layout and feel a bit more enjoyable to use. Unfortunately, the biggest downside of the Bellevue location is the women’s locker room. It’s extremely small for the number of guests they accommodate and could really use a renovation. It can get so crowded that you’re practically bumping into other people or waiting in line for showers, which takes away from what should be a relaxing experience. The setup at the Totem Lake location is much better when it comes to the locker room, bathrooms, and showers. That said, Isaac is fantastic and honestly the main reason I’ve kept my membership. The service he provides makes a big difference in my overall experience. My main concern is that the Bellevue location seems to be overbooked for the amount of space available. The hydrotherapy area can feel packed at times, and during my last visit there was a strange odor and the hot tub was overly bubbly, which came across unclean. On another visit, a group of women were being extremely loud and disruptive, and unfortunately no staff stepped in to address it, which made it difficult for others to relax. I understand the spa may be limited in what they can do with the physical space, and of course they want to accommodate as many guests as possible. However, I do think there are ways to improve the experience for members who come specifically for relaxation and are familiar with spa etiquette. Member-only hours could be a great solution. I also wish there was more space in the relaxation area. The relaxation room has limited seating, dated magazines and doesn’t have a clock, so it can be difficult to keep track of time before a service. Sometimes I find myself going back to the locker room just to wait, which isn’t ideal. A larger, quieter relaxation space would make a big difference for people who want to unwind away from the crowds. Overall, I enjoy some aspects of the Bellevue location, but I hope management considers improvements to the locker room capacity, crowd control, and relaxation areas so members can fully enjoy the experience. Otherwise (factoring in others review), I think they will continue to see members come and go. Maybe this works for their business model.
I've been a member with Yuan Spa for several years and have generally been very satisfied with their service. The massage therapist I had today was good as well, and I appreciate her professionalism - this star is a credit to her. However, I had a very disappointing experience this time. I specifically asked for a massage using CBD oil, but halfway through, the therapist noticed that the scent didn't seem right -- it turned out that the bottles were mislabeled. The one labeled as "CBD oil" was actually fat burning elasticizing oil, so she unknowingly used the wrong product, which was not her fault. When I checked out, I discovered that I was double charged -- once for the CBD oil and once for the elasticizing oil -- even though it was their mistake. When I brought this up at the front desk, they insisted the charge was correct because both oils had been used on me. Though they agreed to refund the extra charge to me, I found their attitude dismissive and their handling of the situation unacceptable. As a long-time member, I'm very disappointed that they would charge a customer for a labeling mistake they made. I'm also fortunate that I haven't had any allergic reaction to the misused oil -- but what if another guest were allergic to it? That could have been serious. This experience really damaged my trust in their quality control and customer care.
I’ve been a member at Yuan Spa for several years, and I’m canceling my membership because the experience has gone downhill across the board. The front desk is consistently rude: no eye contact, no warmth, and an attitude that makes you feel like you’re inconveniencing them just by checking in. The hydrotherapy area is frequently overcrowded, well beyond what the posted limits allow. Loud groups, no sense of calm, and zero staff oversight. What used to feel peaceful now feels more like a busy public pool. On top of that, the black Hawaiian sea salt in one of the pools wasn’t properly broken down and stained my brand-new swimsuit. When I told the front desk, they dismissed it immediately and told me it “wasn’t possible,” instead of showing even a hint of concern or curiosity. I also went back recently to Bellevue location return a product from a facial—something I decided I didn’t need—and despite it being the same company, they told me I had to drive to the Kirkland location to return it. No flexibility, no solution, just another flat “no” delivered with the same dismissive tone. And the final straw: being paired with a male massage therapist I had specifically requested not to see after an uncomfortable experience with him previously. That should never happen in a spa environment.
I’ve always enjoyed coming here — the staff is consistently wonderful, talented, and welcoming. That’s why it feels disappointing to share that the hydrotherapy experiences, which I used to look forward to has become increasingly difficult to enjoy. I understand it can be challenging to enforce quiet-spa expectations, even with the many signs posted, but the level of loud conversation happening in shared spaces has made it hard to truly relax. During my last visit, a group in the sauna carried on a full-volume conversation about reality TV with no regard for others trying to enjoy a peaceful environment. This isn’t the first time it’s happened, and it takes away from the calming atmosphere the spa is known for. It’s tough to justify paying for relaxation when the environment often feels more like an unintentional social gathering than a quiet retreat. Unfortunately this has happened on multiple occasions at this point, so I plan to avoid those services from now on. Massages and facials are phenomenal and I will continue to enjoy those services.
Gorgeous facilities! And kind front desk staff. However, I do have a word of caution to other spa goers if you would like a spa service here. I’m fortunately a member of Yuan Spa since this past summer. I’ve had excellent spa services and experiences until yesterday. I had a lovely deep tissue with Diego. He was intuitive and very professional. However, my radiant foot treatment with Evan was uncomfortable. He picked me up after 2 pm from the relaxation room which was disappointing as I was there waiting for about 10-15 minutes prior to the 2 pm start of service. During the foot treatment, there is an upper neck and shoulder massage involved which was rough. I was even unintentionally choked a couple times as his hand pressed against my jugular. He then ended the service at 259 despite picking me up after 2 pm, so I didn’t get the full treatment duration. It overall felt rushed, and not very intentional. The front desk were kind with the feedback. But I just wanted to let others know as well.
